Work, Life, Stories, and more....This Morning's NZ Spontaneous Live, archived.
Added 2026-01-03 04:36:35 +0000 UTCHello loves!
This morning had a rare free moment so I did a spontaneous little live from New Zealand that lasted about an hour! It was free to ALL patrons - including free members - and the archive is open!!
About 100 folks tuned in. We hung out and caught up, lots of nice random chat, and we let the conversation wander ...
A few links I promised you who tuned in:
Here's a link to the "Oasis" video! I was really surpised to see it has almost 2m views on YouTube, yikes! It might be nice to do a deep dive into the video sometime...so many memories of making it and so many little stories behind the who's-who in the cast....

AND

...for those of you who were Evelyn Evelyn curious, here's the link to the WHOLE album on bandcamp (that's where Jason - my twin - and I will actually get PAID if you wanna download it!) /....
And if you want to see something hilarious, here's me and Jason in twin drag...probably around 2010/11 at the Edinburgh fringe festival, with our pal Thomas introducing us.

....and here's the link to the title track on youtube if you just want a little taste...and again, I rarely check up on these numbers and I'm kind of gobsmacked to see that the song has SEVEN MILLION views. When did...that happen?

It also appears that the graphic novel, which only saw one printing, is now going on ebay for $150.
Time to clock into the office and figure these things out...sometime this year, when I get caught up with everything else....
More coming.....
Michael shows up tomorrow (yay!) and then tour rehearsals & prep underway.

2026-01-03 08:38:39 +0000 UTC"whether or not something has a happy ending is just a matter of timing" 100% true amanda. 💞 also true that some people just look for things to be offended by.

2026-01-03 05:21:01 +0000 UTCHearing that people are discovering (and loving) Evelyn Evelyn makes my heart do this achey‑hopeful thing in my chest. It was so disheartening when the record was initially released and the lights cut out way too soon because the controversy drowned out the music. The fact that people seem to be sneaking back in through the circus tent side flap with popcorn in hand makes me think that we’re finally coming along as a society and that maybe now folks are actually listening to it rather than reacting to the idea of it. I honestly think if it were released today in a society that seems to be more fluent in layered storytelling and uncomfortable art, it would have landed differently. Time is such a fucking weird accordion. I’ve been thinking a lot recently (ever since finishing Songs of No Provenance actually) about how whether or not something has a happy ending is just a matter of timing. If you stop the Evelyn Evelyn story at the backlash, it’s a tragedy. If you stop it now, it seems to be a redemption arc of sorts. If you stop it ten years from now, who knows—maybe it’ll be required listening in some avant‑garde trauma‑studies class or something. I guess this just helps to reiterate to me that stories aren’t over until we stop telling them and that sometimes it’s important to let the house lights stay up just a little longer. 👯♀️🐘🐘❤️❤️

2026-01-03 05:06:27 +0000 UTCGod sometimes I forget just how much I love "Oasis." Just throwing that out there that there are still those who appreciate gallows humor. Sometimes trauma needs to make you cry, and felt all the way through. And sometimes you need to look back and go "omg yeah that shit did happen to me haha that's crazy anyway where's those concert tickets."

2026-01-03 04:49:30 +0000 UTCAmanda, dear, thank you for the live and for the links! Was just about to drop off to sleep, and hadn't turned my phone on Do Not Disturb yet. And the it went "ping" with your notification ❤️ But here the thing: If all the world's disturbances were akin to yourmagnanimous giving, we'd all be well! ❤️ "Disturb" me anytime (For some reason I just randomly remembered the London construction ad "Refuse to be contained within black sacks!) 😂 Much love and thank you ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
