We got it first!!!!!!
To all of you, so much love and so many heartfelt wishes from 2026!!
We just rang it in here in Aotearoa New Zealand; it’s nearly 1am and I’m heading to bed, but first….
I hope this turning of the year gives you some new spark inside, some hopeful sense of quiet relief in the changing of the moment. If nothing else, I hope you get to just…let some things go.
A ritual can help. Even if you’re alone at home. A small thought, a wish or a nightmare, written on a scrap of newspaper, held over a flame. I like to write down names of things and places and people I need to let go of.
Anything. Any offering to set the new year into place.
I played some ukulele with the locals at a Hogmanay party….

Was offered some haggis but could only stomach a photo (no pun intended)….

Then we scrambled home and the kids and adults wrote down the wishes and nightmares of 2025 and Ash and his friend did the honors and burned them in a bowl at a minute to midnight.
Then midnight came, the kids screamed and I felt old and thoughtful.
I don’t scream anymore.
I’m all screamed out.
For now.
The wishes and nightmares are all gone now, to the sky, and we will throw the cremated remains in the sea tomorrow and say a final goodbye.

And to 2025?
I can’t hate you, any more than I can hate anyone or anything.
But I can say this to you, dear 2025.
I survived the ever-living FUCK out of you.
And for that?
I am truly grateful.
You can’t burn ash.
See you all next year.
I love you.
Xxx
