Ugh.  Thank you for all the congratulations!  For about three hours I was on the highest high... just to get a call twenty minutes ago from my realtor saying that I was bought out.  I had even already signed the finalized paperwork to approve the buy.  But apparently unless I get the documents in my hand, I can still be bought out.  This other agent (not mine) gave these other people another change to buy the place and they did... all in cash... and substantially more than my offer (which also was above the listed price).  So in short, I was lead to believe I owned a new house for three hours, just to be told I was bought out.  I think the term is "sold from underneath" or something... UGH.

Talk about a rollercoaster and sorry to put you through that.  I was just so excited.

So... there shouldn't be any delays to the comic.  I am staying here for the time being (which is fine).  I look forward to continue to making content you like and working with people I consider friends over co-workers.  Thank you everyone.  Sorry to pull you through those three hours.  I appreciate the support.

Thank you, AK!

I feel bad for him. He's been a great, down to earth agent. Not some slick huckster. Thanks! I will apply that luck in the future. :)

I'm saving this comment. Good advice and info! Thank you, TechDragon.

That sucks.. A friend of mine had a similar thing happen several times, and she took up realty law looking into ways to make that sort of last minute stuff less likely.. Her most interesting idea is that once a seller agrees to sell if someone tries to overbid and the seller agrees, they have to forfeit most or all proceeds above the original agreed price to the buyer who is being outbid, so the seller makes little or no extra profit and the original buyer gets something for their inconvenience. Makes it less likely for a seller to back out last minute solely for profit.

Well sometimes things have to fall apart to make way for better things. That’s a quote from How I Met your mother. It’s one I’ve grown fond of. Maybe it could do you some good here as well. Something better than the one you bid on might be just around the corner. Just keep your head up and eyes open. You’ll find it. I know you will.

Ouch. As bad as you feel, I 'm sure your real estate agent was peeling the paint with rather blue language about the whole thing as that was their paycheck. Good luck on the next one, though.

Thank you. I have decided I will repaint my cardboard box in a bright and happy color for the time being. ;-)

Thanks for the message. There is nothing I or my agent can do. I feel bad for my agent putting in all this time and not getting paid yet. We've been trying to get a place for 4 months! We've been outbid twice before this, but what made this time different is the OTHER real estate agent said we got the place and it was ours! So we signed the final documents... and then three hours later they say we got outbid by a ridiculous amount... It's really upsetting. But there must be a reason, maybe I'll find something better in the future.

I'm so sorry, man. I hope you get some good house news soon!

What?! Oh my god that’s....I don’t even have a word for what that is. I am so sorry that happened. Is there anything I can do?
