In the last monthly review post I mentioned a decline in viewership. That was further evidenced by today's episode, "Family Sport" receiving a new one day low. Now some of this may be burnout from my end, or burnout from others. It might be Tumblr's decline as well. I shouldn't look so deep into stats, but I do...
So this graph shows you our statistical level on the global level based of Alexa statistics. We peaked at the end of January 2019, then I took my week off, and we have steadily declined since then. We are now at the point we were at at the end of 2017 and slightly below. Internationally, we are roughly in the 520,000th ranked site in the world in terms of traffic. Some of our decline may be attributed to Tumblr's continued traffic decline. It has fallen from a top 20 spot to now falling below the top 50.
Not only that, but our daily notes are steadily declining as well. Last year we averaged about 140 notes in a release day. We now average about 90 notes in a release day.
So I come to you. What would you do? I've been told by some of you other places to branch out, but now lets really discuss this. Is a solution to end the series on a high note? Am I making too big a deal about a 100k drop in traffic? Is this tied with MLP:FiM's offseason?
I also thought maybe the high point was an irregularity or our peak and we are simply going back to an area that we were at prior to 2018. The old normal... but we'll see if we continue to drop.
I would like to use the trusty and clunky old Deviant Art for more content. I am not aware of other places people post comics and are allowed access to statistics and data. I have considered owning my own website to run the series, but I know viewership would tank as very few would actually move over to read it. Thoughts. Discussion.
