Patreon Thoughts
Added 2017-12-13 22:12:03 +0000 UTCSo about last week, I got a message talking about how Patreon was going to increase their earnings by charging you more, but today they announced they WON'T do this. I can understand they want more money, but I must give them credit for pulling back on their initial goal. I got a message today saying they are NOT going to charge people more. They are working to go back to their old format (like always). Unfortunately, and Patreon admits this themselves), their actions caused more damage then good. On average, Patreon's lost supporters, and I lost a handful as well because of their policy changes. They said they are going to try and make this right, so I guess we will just have to sit back and watch.
What I am bringing this up for is I am not mad at them, and I was never going to rage some war against them for changing their policy. What I am upset about is the the confusion it caused you. I cannot thank you enough for those of you who stuck around, even though they they were going to charge you more. While some left, I saw some of you even raise your support even higher! Seriously, thank you for your support and patronage.

2017-12-14 06:16:01 +0000 UTCInteresting fact: Assuming they weren't lying in their second post about the fee change, where they explained things in more detail, they actually weren't going to increase their earnings. It was true that, as many people noted, the transaction fees charged to patrons under the new scheme were going to exceed the transaction fees that are currently involved in the Patreon process, but as it turns out they were planning to give that extra money to the credit card companies and Paypal rather than keeping it for themselves. It was not, in fact, a poorly concealed play for more money; it was simply an inexplicable choice of the worst possible way to solve a different problem even though there were obvious better solutions.

2017-12-14 06:13:05 +0000 UTCI think a more fair thing to the people supporting people on Patreon would for the creator to give a larger portion of their share maybe to Patreon? Don't make Patron's pay more, that makes no sense, because it is already hard enough to give money away. I don't think there is an easy answer, but if Patreon wants more revenue, they can always charge creators to make accounts too (Of course I don't want that, but it's just a thought). Whatever, at least for now, I am glad they are going back to the way things were before.

2017-12-14 00:13:48 +0000 UTCI agree with you. Patreon`s intention were good, but they should let the creators decide whats going to happen with their pledge(income). So,..since other creators left i can and will top up my pledge to you. Thank you for your fair statement.
