Did I ever mention how I met my roommate?
Her name is Hope, and she came to draw me during a nude session we call "Naked Church," because it is held in a historic church (which no longer holds religious services) on Sunday mornings. About a year later, she moved out on her own, and I was looking for a roommate.
She and I get along wonderfully. She is quite mature for her age (19), holding two jobs while also attending culinary school. We share a similar aesthetic and desire for cleanliness, and she is very creative.
Hope is an incredible artist. She has been asking to paint me since she moved in, and we finally made it happen. This work was inspired by a painting of me done by Kathleen Tobin. The first two images, you can see I am sitting beside the painting, which Kathleen finished in 20 minutes. Hope did such a good job, it doesn't look real! I can assure you it was very real, as I still have blue paint in my hair many days later.
A photographer friend of mine, Anthony DiCaro also came over and made some tintype photographs of the work. All in all, we worked for about 12 hours straight. It was tremendous fun.
Enjoy!
