So, I have had Photoshop for a while, thanks to one of my favorite patrons/collaborators. However, every time I have attempted to use it, (specifically for this project) I have failed... Mostly because if I wasn't touring, I had my hands full with caring for my grandparents. Photoshop isn't something one can get the hang of with very little time on hand.
Anyway, now I am dedicating my mornings to sitting through the tutorials and figuring it out while I have my coffee. Which is rather appropriate, considering my theme.
My intention is to present 'Morning Fix' as a series of diptychs. The left image will be an editorial style image of the subject mid-ritual. The right image will be an abstract (nude) bodyscape of the subject wearing the substance.
This particular set of images was a fun exploration of the theme. Roberto (of Carryon Photo) shot these in a studio in Asbury. The studio was great, because it had a kitchen area and tons of natural light. However, we shot in the afternoon, so there was a bit too much light for my liking (esp for this series). In case I decide to print these images for a book or exhibit, I don't want to tone them down so much that information gets lost. But I also don't want them to look like glamour shots, either.
Hence, this image. It is a pretty image, and I'm sharing it with you here, but it will not make the cut. It's too lit, too posed, too everything.
As I make headway, I'll share some of my process, as well as the outtakes that don't make the cut.
