Because life has been tense, challenging, and emotionally exhausting as of late, here is a silly behind the scenes shot, taken by George Streng during The Desert Adventure last month.
Yesterday, the man who has been sharing a room with my Grandfather at the nursing home passed away. So, as you can imagine, spirits have been down. Fortunately, we had some beautiful weather yesterday, and I was able to get him out in the sun for a while. Unfortunately, however, he did not sleep at all last night. He is so terrified by the proximal mortality, and is worrying himself sick.
Between the crippling anxiety and lack of sleep, today he was delusional, miserable, and trembling. We had dinner together (he barely ate) and then we went to his room and put on his favorite night time shows. After an hour of watching him nod off in his chair, I convinced him to get comfortable in bed. I got in bed next to him, and stayed with him for a few hours while he slept. I have a feeling that the coming weeks are going to be spent doing just that; Comforting him while he acquiesces towards his final rest.
I deeply appreciate all of your support and encouraging notes during this time. If I seem distracted, it's because I am... But I will carry on with the feed. So stay tuned in.
I hope you are all enjoying spring, now that it's finally here.
