Finally back in Jersey after a long and arduous journey. We experienced weather in New Orleans that left me stranded at the airport. Luckily, a photographer friend was able to pick me up and host me for the evening. I had a hot meal, a hot shower, a new toothbrush, clean pajamas and a warm bed, and for that I am ever grateful.
Three canceled flights, and one lost bag later, I finally made it to Manhattan, where I had a very relaxing and productive shoot with a good photographer friend of mine.
My grandfather has been in the hospital for one week. They found a very troubling mass on his lung. I debated for two days whether it would be in his best interest to biopsy it, and decided that it would be good to know.
He just came out of his biopsy. He has a small hole in his lung to recover from, hopefully overnight, and then tomorrow they will scan his brain and his bones. Then he can finally come home. We find out the results in one week.
I am on my way to meet him now. I had to take a VERY long distance uber, because there was a pipe bomb explosion in the bus terminal. Fortunately, there were no life threatening injuries.
My uber driver is a very warm man from Pakistan. It is a good reminder not to be swept up in the xenophobic craze that tends to overwhelm people as they search for reasons why these kinds of attacks happen. I couldn't feel safer. For that, I have much gratitude.
Today is going to be the beginning of a paradigm shift in my life (as well as my family) as I am assigned the task of making a lot of very heavy decisions regarding the remainder of my grandfather's life. So your continued support through yet another deep and challenging transition is so appreciated.
I'm almost certain that my grandfather can no longer be alone, and so I will be really enforcing my transition into a more stationary lifestyle. I will still tour and model on a very exclusive basis, but I am really going to funnel my energy into sustaining myself with my own projects.
With that said, please know how deeply I appreciate your continued patronage, and I look forward to sharing what's to come with you. There will be a lot of intensity and struggle, and I fully intend to channel that through my work, with your help.
