In case you're wondering what I've been up to...
I'm in Minnesota with my partner and colleague, and with my best friend, Sekaa, who just flew in to meet us a few days ago.
I only had a few photo sessions here, and one of them cancelled. So I took up shifts as a cocktail waitress for a charter boat on Lake Minnetonka to make up the lost income. That was a fun and interesting change of pace.
Of my sessions was this very brief (2 hour) afternoon of natural light magic with Scott Stillman.
Scott always has a few new concepts planned for the shoot, but many times, all but a few details go by the wayside once we start shooting and become lost in the silent rapture of film portraiture.
We wound up spending most of our afternoon session shooting in this chair, in a single panel of soft autumn window light.
Aside from that, I have been bombarding my body with water, vitamins, chicken soup, zinc lozenges, cider vinegar-lemon-maple-cayenne concoctions, and boiling hot eucalyptus-minty showers for the last four days. Trying to kick a nasty, stubborn head/chest infection before I am to be flitting around nude, in the desert, light on my bare feet. I do not feel so graceful right now; Rather, pretty heavy, rusty and miserable. Any non-pharmaceutical cure-alls you suggest? How do you kick a cold?
Leaving for our first leg of the trek at 5AM tomorrow morning.
xo.
