Sunset at Snowy Redrock
Added 2017-03-06 06:33:01 +0000 UTCThe sun tucked this snowy canyon in for the evening. I watched this during a hike on Lost Creek Trail. Out in Calico Basin, still being caressed in the sunlight, I could hear climbers communicating with each other. I have hiked and climbed here many times before. It was a new experience to see the valley highlighted in white snow. The shadows were stark. The earth was firm beneath my feet. The air was brisk, and felt new in my chest. My thoughts echoed loudly, but were quieted by reminders of my smallness in the vast landscape that enveloped me. I let my mind and my breath be still, like every frozen thing in my path. Yet, with each step that propelled me forward, I was overcome with gratitude.
