Character Lab #2: Exodus

Howdy! Today we're returning with a series on characters in development- Today we're bringing you Exodus. If you missed the last character lab, check on our profile on O-.

Exodus (Codename atm) represents the Anti-Volley archetype, a member of the Crimson Brigade who works as a mercenary under Czar and his faction. As a fellow augmented type, her design is centered around agility and heavy handed recklessness with her one arm augment. This assymetry would basically result in her moveset being one arm dominant, so brutal strikes mixed with agility to create a rather formidable foe.

We worked alongside Cameron Sewell (ThDark on Twitter) on some ideas, going off this primary concept (By SB) where we experimented with the idea of her being more heavily augmented, including an exoskeleton to amplify her mobility. We like offering our rough ideas to other artists and seeing how they interpret it as it sometimes results in directions we didn't think about.

Pass 1: His initial concept was leaner, shorter and meaner. But while we discussed t he idea we thought it would be neat if her shoulder pauldron was more heavily armored and could be used as a face shield to approach enemies quickly under fire.

Pass 2: The shoulder height was amplified to reflect this idea of a taller guard and he experimented with augmented boosters for her feet rather than the legs for explosive takeoffs, potential amplifications to leg moves and more. The way her augments integrate into her spine are also reflective of the way Czar's augments are added, to tie together the fact they might come from the same supplier of illegal augmentations (Weaponized augments are banned in our universe).

And yes, we had to close this off with a raging demon joke (An Akuma reference), with the Kanji on the back meaning 'Crimson.' This character is under development but we're feeling pretty good about her as a new face in the fighting title, out to get some revenge on Volley.
