HAPPY 2026!
Someone in the previous post asked if I still discover new things about the characters as I story board them or if they're tightly written and the boards are refined versions of that to which I'll say, a little of both?
There are a few characters whose mannerisms, actions, and feelings towards everyone around them are crystal clear from start to finish. Olivia, Gwen, and Sparky are kind of like that for me. Boarding their scenes were the easiest, maybe because I relate to cynical, crazed old people and broken things haha. Both Frankie and Andi we think we know 100% but every time I boarded one of their scenes I was like "what if this and what if that!!" Their overall stories and journeys don't change but the new ideas, the way they react to one another, have helped strengthen them. Being able to both write and board on the pilot allows me to hone in on everyone better for future (potential) episodes. Zach and JBO have their own processes, as well and all I can say is if we get to do the full story I am very excited to continue drawing and writing these characters.
