What preference for battlemaps do you have?

Would you prefer us to make more, smaller multi-level maps as opposed to more, larger single-level maps?

We had a GM mention that they really loved our multi-level maps, we're happy to make more of them more regularly but we need to make them smaller if we do that, because otherwise it's twice the work for us :)

We'll still have some 40x30 multi-level maps, but just not all if we start making them a more regular occurrence. We'll basically be replacing a single 40x30 map with a multi-level 20x30 map, and still have the occasional 40x30 multi map we'd otherwise be making.

Hopefully that makes sense, happy to answer any questions to clarify :P Anyway, let me know your preferences in the poll below!

I like the variety and don't really have a big preference on either, so a split would be great for me.

They're both so cool. I can't really say I'd take one over the other, they let me do different things. Both of which are good.

I say keep making battlemap concepts you enjoy. If you love what your making, I'm sure we will to šŸ™‚

I like the occasional multi-level map, but honestly, for my game, the larger single level battle mats are what I use most of the time.

I'm happy with whatever you can give me, however... I also like the dungeon geomorphs idea (the tiny maps you paste together). Frankly, variety of sizes is best, as I can put a set of stairs just about anywhere and say "these go to the next level." I just want to say "thanks for ALL the fantastic stuff you provide - the maps, the prompts/storylines."

Bigger maps just for a change please, but my top suggestion is to do 50/50 both, or as the inspiration hits. One biggie followed by a smaller multi-level. Also wider corridors for the win, somewhere to get a running battle going on. Keep in mind, none of this is criticisms, you are great!

I agree with Gargan, if there was an option for both I would go with that. Having a variety of maps and sizes always keeps things interesting. But if you are just getting a general feel for how many folks are interested in multilevel maps, then I’d say yes, having some once in a while is great.

A multi-level map would be nice, on the caveat that it's not a bunch of tight hallways and small rooms. I like larger, more open areas for fights.

I only have room for 30x20 on my table so I am already using most of your 40x30 as two 30x20 maps. Multi Level 30x20 would be a plus. But if you are considering new styles of maps: What I would really love would be geomorphic maps. So maps you could combine no matter how you turn or place them.

Without disagreeing with you, I am voting for larger single-level maps. Reason is that while multi-level maps are cool, it is not always easy to use them in play. "Oh and there's a monster on the second level balcony but you can't see it on the map because it is on the second floor map instead." You can also use large maps in pieces. If you want a small dungeon and have a large dungeon, you can cut the part you want and just use that. But if there would be a third option to vote for both, I would pick that. :)
