Castle Balduris! Reward for reaching $400 goal.

Hey everyone, first up I want to thank all the new patrons for their support, you're all amazing! Second, as you can see I'm slightly behind on the goals due to all of you fantastic people joining, so my aim will be to finish off the caverns modular set next month then finish the cityscape modular set the following month. Anyways Hope you guys enjoy this map and modular set. :D

Your party has received an invitation to Castle Balduris from Lady Leanna. She is the last of her bloodline and looking for a suitor. She believes one of you might be worthy of her family’s great name and title.  

When you arrive you discover the castle is built into the cliff of a great mountain, and run down on the inside. Leanna’s steward greets you and shows you to your rooms.  

Invited to dinner, you meet Lady Leanna in the feasting hall. She is in her late teens with incredible dark ebony skin, as has never been seen in this land before. Despite its rarity, she is astonishingly beautiful. She explains that the castle is cursed. Her mother and her never lived here, but now that she has passed away Leanna wishes to reclaim the lands as her own.  

Whoever destroys the curse will win her hand in marriage and become Lord of Castle Balduris.  

What’s really happening? Leanna’s mother fell in love with the last living Balduris, whom she married and had a daughter with. She was faithful to him, but both parents had the milky white skin of the northern land. When her daughter was born so dark, Lord Balduris assumed his wife had been unfaithful. He dragged his wife and child from the birthing bed, beating them both horribly and throwing them from the castle into a blizzard.  

Later that night, while he drank heavily in the library, he discovered a book of his genealogy. Within it was a portrait of a great, great grandfather with the same dark skin of his daughter. Mortified by what he had done, he raced out into the blizzard to find his wife and child. Failing to, he believed he had killed the love of his life and hung himself in the feasting hall.  

However, Leanna and her mother survived the blizzard by hiding in the stables, and fled once it had passed. It was only on her mother’s deathbed that Leanna learned who she was and of her inheritance. Upon trying to claim her lands, she discovered the castle had been abandoned over a decade ago.  

The curse is caused by the ghost of her father, who, through his actions, anchored his essence to his ancestral home. Every year on the day Leanna was born three wraiths appear — the aspects of anger, regret, and sorrow. Once they are defeated they coalesce in the feasting hall where her father killed himself. It is there, finally whole, he becomes aware of the current time and what has happened.  

Realising Leanna is his daughter, and that she is alive, he tells her the horrible things he did and explains how sorry he is. He begs her forgiveness. Leanna, overcome with emotion, asks the players what they would do in her position.

For the curse to end he requires absolution, or his essence can be destroyed in a final death blow. If you and Leanna choose to destroy his essence, he will not fight back but accept his fate.
