I know this is months late, but it seems like you ran with the misunderstanding of 1 poorly formulated line in the translation so I want to clear that one up regardless. The line in your version was: "I came to think that my birth mother might know already. I must take after her". The meaning of what was said was more accurately "I think my birth mother may already know I take after her." It was not about "maybe" knowing her identity. It was confirmed in multiple ways that the birth mother knew at this point, but that line/translation seemed to throw you off and think it wasn't.

For me it's the opposite of Healer, where everything but the romance was weak. K2 had better villains, better plot, better action scenes, and very little romance.

They had a solid beginning, strong middle, and it was still strong even after they got together. Most couples become awkward after they become a couple. The side characters were mostly good but the plot, the villain, eh... mediocre for me. It could've been told in 16 episodes I think. They had too many unnecessary flashbacks and it was also repetitive. That's also the downside of most Kdramas. The unnecessary repetition for me. The Elder could've been a stronger antagonist combined with glasses. It probably took a back seat because of the romance. I also wanted to see Moon Sik punished more. He betrayed all his friends and left them to die. I guess leaving him with his delusions was enough.

And while it wasn't a lot of action, all the jumping/parkour stuff was made by Ji Chang Woo himself and that it's still a big deal. I really love Bloodhound but I'm sorry, buffy dude or not, Chang Wook's body from that period could never be defeated by anyone else, the dude was super athletic. His body it's amazing even today at 37 years old, he was recently in a show where they put him to do different different things and they were surprised of his body. The choreography from K2 it's better because the action was more important, maybe even Worst of Evil too, not sure if you will check more from this actor but just saying, I wouldn't say that Healer it's his best action kdrama.
