2024-08-26 23:27:39 +0000 UTCNgl, I think I might say the same thing again in terms of why dae-young canβt just get promoted to fix x problem, in a future video(cause we are almost done recording wise) but now I understand, thanks π

2024-08-26 19:08:47 +0000 UTCIt might be easier to compare it to a doctor & a nurse. Doctors go to medical school and spend years to become ones, and nurses have their own schools to go to. No matter how experienced a nurse is, they can't become a doctor unless they go to medical school and start from the scratch. That's where Myeong-ju and Dae-yeong stand. Of course, this can't justify Myeog-ju's father being opposed to their relationship. He's concerned about his daughter being frowned upon by other old-fashioned higher-ups in the military and her relationship with Dae-yeong might hinder her future as an officer. This isn't any different than a rich family refusing to accept a poor family as their in-laws. In short, Myeong-ju's father is being a jerk. As you know, there're a doctor and a nurse in this show who are depicted as friends from childhood and, judging from the way they interact, are likely to become more than friends. I think it's an interesting juxtaposition.

2024-08-26 19:00:46 +0000 UTCOkay I have zero knowledge about the army so I still didnβt understand even after your explanation. What is the difference between an officer and a nco? Why a nco canβt advance like an officer? After a few minutes of research the best answer I could find is that Officers require a bachelorβs degree while NCOβs only requires a high school diploma. But maybe the most important difference I found was what people say about it. They refer to officers as management and to NCOβs as the backbone of the army. So maybe her Dad doesnβt want her to be in a relationship where her husbands life will always be harsh and at risk? He would rather she would stay with someone who eventually will be behind a desk and still have a higher rank? π€ Anyway we will understand it better as we watch the episodes.

2024-08-25 18:06:43 +0000 UTCPlease read subtitles instead of drawing your own conclusion on a situation while things are literally explained on screen during your commentary (i.e. reason why Si-jin decided to disobey the order - to literally protect Mo-yeon from being blamed for not operating, Myeong-ju's dad ordering Si-jin's punishment). As for Dae-yeong's rank, whereas Myeong-ju is an officer who can go up to become a general like her dad, he is a non-commisioned officer(such as sergeant, as explained in Ep 1) who can go only so much high. Officers go to military academy to become ones, and sergeants start as plain soldiers(private).
