"Blog of Tomorrow" Week 3 Recap
Added 2016-11-22 07:32:27 +0000 UTCWeek three of my campaign to write for Crushing Krisis as if you were paying me to do it full time finds me maintaining my pace in the words department at 76,000 total published words in posts this month, plus another 16,000 in my three new comic guides.
This week's contributions to the total took 20hrs of writing and another 18hrs of guide-making to achieve, so we're pretty much at a 40hr work week. Full time mission accomplished!
The question is: is all that work resulting into words worth reading?
I hope so, but I'm starting to see the flaws in this plan in my current layout vs. a magazine style layout. You've got to scroll past an awful lot of stuff to find the posts you want. All the more reason to push forward towards a redesign!
The past week involved writing in every possible moment as I played catch up after my election attention deficit. Yet, at some point I felt things click as I settled into the blogging process. Maybe this is just two visits to the gym talking, but I feel like have my writing muscles back.
My "35-for-35" project is a series of essays about a song from every year of my life.
- 1997 - "Shame On You" by The Indigo Girls
- 1998 - "Baby Britain" by Elliott Smith
- 1999 - "Center of Attention" by Guster
- 2000 - "The Easy Way Out" by Juliana Hatfield
- 2001 - "Subdivision" by Ani DiFranco
- 2002 - "5 Minutes" by Garrison Starr
- 2003 - "Locked Box" by Frankie Big Face
- 2004 - "I Control The Sun" by Lisa Loeb
I'm reading the original WildStorm comics from the beginning in 1992.
- Stormwatch (1993) #11-13
- Wetworks (1994) #1-3
- Savage Dragon #13 & WildCATs #14 (Image X Month)
- Stormwatch #14-16
- Backlash #1-5
- Deathblow #10-12
- Team 7 (1994) #1-4
Each week I am reading one Dr. Seuss book in chronological order, though this week I skipped my additional children's book review as the one concession to how pressed I was to keep up with the full-time writing and guide making.
CK has been home to my original music since 2000, but with this month I'm adding original fiction! (The lack of a new cover image for the fiction was my other concession - I had the shot concepted, but couldn't stop writing for long enough to shoot it!)
And, finally, I launched a new, Patrons-only collecting guide for the Crushing Comics Club members and above! Even if you haven't pledged, you can still read my introduction.
That's 19 posts in seven days. How many have you read already?
