Moving Episode 3

"1+1"

The reason Hee-soo’s father got upset when she said she wanted to go to a sports university was that, as shown in episode 1, Hee-soo was academically successful and ranked among the top students. She had grades high enough to get into a regular university, so her father was angry that she was giving up on that and suddenly decided to pursue a sports university instead. Hee-soo’s family was already financially struggling. On top of that, her father had to sell their house and pay a large settlement because of a fight Hee-soo got into at school, which worsened their financial situation. This left Hee-soo feeling constant guilt and regret toward her father, which is expressed through her dialogue. Although her father never pressured her about money, Hee-soo was always worried about their finances. For example, Hee-soo didn’t take the bus and always ran from home to school because she felt too guilty to ask her father for bus fare. She wanted to reduce his financial burden in any way she could. She also knew that the cost of prep classes and tuition for a regular university would be high. To minimize these expenses, she decided to pursue a sports university instead. In episode 1, her teacher told her that attending a sports university could exempt her from tuition and would cost significantly less. Through his conversations with Hee-soo, her father realized that she was changing her career path because of their financial struggles. Hee-soo told her father not to worry about money and insisted that she would handle everything herself by going to a sports university, which would cost much less. From her father’s perspective, it must have been heartbreaking to see his young daughter feel pressured to change her dreams because of money. In the end, Hee-soo’s comforting words and encouragement deeply moved her father. However, at the same time, he felt guilt and heartbreak knowing that his daughter was carrying such a heavy burden. 😊

Most popular actor in this drama is the bus driver for me. He does a lot of comedy so I can never see him as a serious character. All the kids seem fairly new, I've only seen the female lead in Sweet Home and Alchemy of Souls, both fantastic dramas. She definitely blew up after Alchemy... never seen the boys before.
