In Korea they put a lot of meaning in clans when the Judge asked Attorney Ryu which "family" she comes from he meant to ask which "clan" (because they had the same last name). This is similar to Chinese clan idea. When some families share the same last name they are distinguished by their clans for instance the Judge asked her which Ryu family she belonged to and she said Pungsan Ryu and he happened to be from Pungsan too that means they were from the same clan and maybe in ancient times their families were related to each other that's why she said she maybe his aunt
