At this point in the show, I didn't like Gon that much either. The other characters and the discovery-based plot kept me invested. Only on rewatch did I appreciate Gon's character. He still gets on my nerves, but I think Togashi did a great job writing how a 12 year old would handle himself in the environments and situations Gon finds himself in. #killuabestboy

2022-02-17 21:13:59 +0000 UTCLol, he's not dumb, he's just a bit insane and willful -- he knew very well that the shit he was doing was risky and foolish but he went ahead and did it anyways, cos he wanted to own Genthru, even just a bit. Glad you caught the parallel with the Hunter Exam Final Phase. You'll also notice that here, just like Hanzo wasn't allowed to kill Gon, Genthru also couldn't kill Gon, because he needed him to hand over his cards first. And yeah, Bisky could probably take Genthru but I believe the reason she let the boys take Genthru's crew was partly to train them (especially since they had an excellent plan with minimal risk to the boys) and partly because it just makes sense to work with a plan rather than go head-on even if you're confident of your chances. This is a Nen fight in the end, and we just saw the weaker Gon defeat Genthru (-- only because Genthru wasn't trying to kill him though)
