Aw 🤗🤍 so glad you made it public. This is the video that got me working on AI safety; I rationally understood the concept way earlier, but the emotional side got hit with the original version of this one. Curious to know if others had similar experiences.

And maybe another difference is the driving forces: nuclear power as used as weapons is about expanding one's power, and in many societies, that's no longer a legitimate driver. With AI, the driver is business on the supplier side, and a weird desire for simplicity and comfort on the consumer side (where 'consumer' includes e.g. politicians asking AI for advice or companies using AI to develop their profit maximization strategy)

Thanks, Robert, for bringing this again to our attention, as Zachary says, we easily get into false security. One thing of which people could think we managed it, at least so far, is nuclear power. We could have destroyed the environment we need for living, yet we managed not to do so. The difference is possibly that nuclear power is obviously dangerous, while AI coming in unobtrusively looks friendly, helpful, comforting, and that makes the threat less visible.
