Hiya fellas, another day another batch. I think I won't be able to deliver for the next 2 days so here's a load of goodies for the 2nd day in a row. And also 3 mentions:
1) 2 LIVE CREW - you either love them or hate them, but they are massive legends for the Miami Bass scene and for the overall freedom of speech within rap lyrics. These guys spent some time going back and forth with legal authorities over what a musician can put into a mainstream or any rap record. Let's consider them ''Twisted Sister'' of the rap game. In this one, I have put few of their earlier albums and one CD single.
2) As my second nomination I would like to go with the whole UK rap selection in here - X Possee album is heavily slept on. Album is more of a compilation filled with performances by Overlord X and other Mango Street records signed British rappers of late 80's.
MC Wildski, originally of Norman Cook's Beats International, is also an early UK hip-hop classic. He released 2 solid singles. I have included 'Warrior' in this batch. I have 'Wonderful World' on vinyl, might put up that one sooner or later.
Malarchi's 1999 album (issued on CD 2 yrs later), is one of those few evidences of great late 90's underground scene in the UK, back when US rap was over Golden age peaks and went more into post-B.I.G. and Pac semi-pop themed rap music led by the likes of Jay-Z, Eminem, 50 Cent, Ja Rule, DMX and many more. Therefore, few crusaders for that boom bap golden raps sound were looking more attentively around and overseas to find what's happening there. Malarchi is one of those UK rap albums with strong delivery and great 90-ish beats. He has Canibus on one track as a guest artist aswell.
One of those records released filled with 90's flava but a bit earlier, is Blackmajik's EP/album. Actually being from NYC, the record was released by British label. Tacks are dope and hit hard from every perspective. It's only flaw is the very limited press, run and exposure it got because of it. Only 500 copies of this one were pressed, and definitely makes a collector item for the Golden age rap fans.
Last one from the UK's batch is Mikill Pane's only album. He might be most known for his work with London Urban Collective. They were mostly hip-hop but did not shy away for incorporating other genres back in 2000's. Mikill's album is also quite multi-dimensional. Some might love it, some might hate it. For me it's a bit popsy, but it has it's moments. Overall, the solo album is not so popular as LUC's group albums, so it's a good collectors item as well if you into heterogenic 2000's UK hip-hop.
3) Last one goes to CRAIG G. I been a fan of his for a very long time, and I love to listen to his recent albums as well. What's the best thing, he never stops representing the real hip-hop culture. That's why I love his 2012 album cover. Gotta feel annoyed when you see hip-hop becoming too sissy these days and youngsters not respecting the roots. As for Craig G, he was dropping science in 80's, he is still doing it now. Got nothing but respect for him!
++ As for other releases, there are some gems from Midwest (Iswhat!, Ten Tray), Philly (Cool C (worth his own write-up some day), Cyssero), and other East Coast rap releases (Crhyme Fam, PMD's little white label, and contemporary crusaders for real raps - Timeless Truth). Oh, and I forgot to mention Karl Hinds' - Don Gramma 12'' featuring other UK rap legends Blak Twang and Seanie T.
