If 11th day of another month (August to be more precise), can be credited to the birth of hip-hop scene (aaah, that legendary party...), November 11 has been less fruitful in events. There are few notable rappers that have born on this day, nonetheless. If you are gangsta rap fan, there's a solid chance you have heard about Gangsta Blac from Memphis, Tennessee. He made his name in mid 90's after releasing "Breakin Da Law" (1994) and "Can It Be?" (1996) that were produced by DJ Paul & Juicy J. After those two he has released numerous follow-up albums. So happy birthday, G.
Another legendary artist I know of who must be celebrating right now, is the one and only U-GOD. Staten Island native is known for his deep voice and rhythmic enjoyable flow. And yeah, he's the part of WU-TANG CLAN. He was the part of original Wu crew when they were making the 36 Chambers but his incarceration due to several crimes did not let him to participate in most of recording sessions. Thus, his input on the seminal LP did consist of only a short bridge on the group's debut single "Protect Ya Neck" as well as the fan-favorite opening verse of "Da Mystery of Chessboxin'". Nevertheless, after his release he quickly became known to fans for his rugged flow and deep voice on Wu tracks such as "Winter Warz", "Knuckleheadz", "Investigative Reports", and "Black Jesus".
Like other members on Wu, U-God is no exception in pursuing his solo career. In 1999 he released his first solo album and has followed with four more. The last of whom being Venom in 2018.
Happy birthday, legend!
As a preview track I have added few solo tracks and early Wu tracks with his participation.
In links you will be able to find his KEYNOTE SPEAKER album rip of mine. Got it from the man himself when the CD was dropped, and got the copy autographed by him.
