Reflection Character Reveal: Dr. Verona

Born in Fuse City on the upper levels, Dr. Verona is a deeply driven person of peerless focus. On the surface, Verona is a borderline archetypical career surgeon cast into a very odd field. Her area of focus is particularly on wounds and diseases from the "otherworld," a phenomenon associated with the Coda and the creatures within. Medicine, as it was understood until now proves to be effective in only limited amounts on those harmed in the Coda.

Verona studied the effects of the Coda on the few explorers that came back alive and spent her final year at medical school observing the researchers of Station One and their attempts to provide triage for the wounded. This is where she met Ridill Arondite, taking many of her medical discoveries and building her practices on the Ciallan's practices.

A few years ago, a particularly affluent individual was harmed on one of the trains that move through the veins of Fuse City, and was transported to the only hospital with a doctor capable of operating on wounds of this nature. Unwilling to trust her to the mad seer of Station One, she was sent to a hospital braced in the arm of Upwind and Dr. Verona was given a chance to practice the art described in her paper.

After a successful operation, requests for Verona's assistance flooded in from the ESPER corps as well as many other locations across the city. As the Coda grew, the need for a surgeon capable of managing its damage also increased. As a result, OPIA swelled with funding and Verona herself used that funding to hire back many of the researchers who assisted in discovering the techniques she now employed.

With a freshly rebranded hospital now reforged into a place of not only medical aid but also research, Verona sits as a stony faced proof that the Coda can be understood and its effects stopped dead in their tracks.

Verona carries an air of intensity around her that makes approaching her, particularly while she's working incredibly difficult. This is intentional as she is likely one of the single busiest people on the planet. For very few close to her, they'll find a relaxed, confident if SLIGHTLY frazzled surgeon with an attitude that is considerate but cut-throat in equal measure.

As an effort to prove that "the doctor wouldn't prescribe medicine she herself wouldn't take," Verona will be publicly receiving a reflection to show to the world at large that these items are worth placing their trust in. GEIST is nearly tripping over itself to properly prepare the event as a test run of the ceremony that FLOW Wave 2 will be undertaking later in the year.
