Offline for a Couple of Days
Added 2024-11-06 11:21:17 +0000 UTCOK, so Power Supply Update.
Yesterday I shut my system down, cleaned the whole thing (including the filters), reseated the power supply (in case it wasn't tight or level), checked all of the cables, and powered it back up. The grinding noises on the fan were immediately even worse, and then I heard a loud, "Pop!" and all the noise stopped. There is now no air flowing out of the back of my power supply, which there always was before.
So I am 99.9% sure that the fan is now dead. Accordingly, I left my system shut down for most of yesterday because there was no way I was going to leave it rendering overnight (while I slept) and risk permanently killing the whole rig.
I have made arrangements to take it to the closest Best Buy today. My Mom is going to drive me. :)
Hopefully they will have a viable replacement, they should according to their website, and I am going to ask them to install it even though I can do it myself - just to guarantee that it was done "professionally". Of course, that is assuming they have the time. If there is a long wait, then I will likely just do it myself.
However, that does mean that I am going to lose at least two days of work time. :/
I am not sure how that is going to affect the schedule right now.

So far, so good. More testing required though. :)

2024-11-06 16:49:48 +0000 UTCI didn't think of that, but it's too late now. I am home and with a new PSU installed. Testing it myself. Going to post about it here soon. :)
