DeviantArt Banned me
Added 2024-01-29 17:14:08 +0000 UTCSo a fan asked me why my DeviantArt was down. I didn't know that it was, as I have not checked it in quite a while. So I logged in this morning to find 12 notifications of copyright infringement from 4 days ago. Which is fine in and of itself, but then they gave me a permanent ban for "multiple violations" and being a "repeat offender".
All 12 notifications happened within minutes, as did the ban.
I don't really have an issue with the notifications or with removing the infringing content, even though they are morphs which fall under "fair use". I do take issue with basically getting no notice, being given no time at all to remove the content, and being handed a perma-ban on an account that has been in good standing for a very long time.
The sad part is that I have been thinking about opening a Members sections to my DeviantArt for a while now. I just hadn't got around to it yet.
But this just makes me want to leave the site entirely.
I'd be curious if you have any thoughts on the matter?

Yes, I should probably appeal it.

2024-02-02 13:08:05 +0000 UTCSometimes, the only thing you can do is attempt to appeal the actions. The short notice, etc.; all smack of rampant abuse of power.
