TM Stuff- Pasori Names

Pasori names are often a historical record of events: time, need, or acquisitions. In times of bounty, names might have more traditional acquisition-meanings such as "five seals" or "axehead," or names that remind the parents of recent good luck, in hopes of drawing it back. In leaner situations, names might be more plaintive: naming a son "gun" or "[metal] fishhook" in hopes that "calling" for the thing so close to a birth will cause it to also grace your path soon. Less-common Pasori names have less to do with luck or want and are more vanity or aesthetically-minded, such as naming a child after something you don't need very badly, like a flower. These names give the impression that the parents were well-off enough to waste a chance to call for additional luck or items, and are impressive to other Pasori if for no other reason than the hubris of it.

A person's formal name can be dozens of names long, stacked in a chain with the newest name at the front and the oldest at the end... In this way it's possible for a family to track historical events in their timeline, back to the founder of their family. A person's informal name consists of theirs, their father's and their tribe's (the Emperor's informal name is Luca Duvida Gulo, for example). In traditional ceremonies a person's name is often recited in its uncompressed form, which in larger gatherings with people of renown can take a while to complete. Persons with shorter names are considered slightly untrustworthy, as it usually implies removed member(s); a criminal or someone who did something shameful and whose name had to be removed from the record. It can also imply that you descend from a person with a questing spirit, who wanted to break off and start their own thing, but it's heavily frowned upon and seen as a major act of disrespect to the establishment.

• Luca: a hearthstone or cooking stone, depending on your region
• Rana: the number 8 in Basori (she was born on the 8th month of the 8th day, it was a compromise with Phe)
• Sudacris: another compromise with Phe, a portmanteau of Crister, Phe's father's name, and Suda, a Basori word meaning a grip/ a strong grip
• Hyla: more traditional name meaning "happy song"
• Ulyer: Kan word for (old) Mesdan currency (it is a popular name in that tribe and age group due to overpopulation/ overhunting issues around that time)
