Kobolds Pre-Supported Release

Hello guys,

Thank you all for being so patient. We finally finished pre-supporting and printing all the Kobolds files. Most of them have been printed twice, some of the easier once only once and some tricky models even three times without errors using different printers and resins.

Kobolds are super small compared to a human, so please be super careful when de-supporting them since some supports are thicker than their wrists and it's easy to snap them off.

Tweezers and warm water are super helpful when de-supporting these bad boys.

I don't have much more to say right now, just pretty excited about releasing this and how well these models printed. Mario and Joseph have done a phenomenal job with these models, you can thank both those guys for all the hard work. I think you will enjoy them very much.

If you need any help printing or dialing in your printer, either DLP or FDM don't forget you can hop into our Discord server and ask any questions in the #3D Printing Support text channel.

The download link is in the previous post.

(I think my first reply didn't send, hope I don't reply twice now)... Thanks a lot for your advice, I really appreciate it. The hot water works wonders =)

Hi, could you by any chance hit me up on the discord 3d printing support channel. I'd love to help but it requires a bit more direction than can easily be given in a comment section. Feel free to at me there @yessik.

Every support supports an island at .02 layer height. So yeah, they're all necessary unless you want damage to the FEP or to be constantly cleaning your resin. Have you tried a hot water bath after the IPA bath to weaken the supports?

mhhm... it´s the first time I am printing pre-supported miniatures (not just from cast n play, but in general) - normally I put the supports there by myself (and never have problems) I didnt have any problems with missing legs or anything, which is great BUT... the huge amount of supports makes it super difficult for me to remove them properly afterwards (printed at 100%) Are all the supports really necessary?

Christoph Gruber

I had Kigrux C2 shield fail and Bruldob A lose his right leg, the other 4 I printed on the same plate were fine.

Add two seconds exposure and try again, failure at point of contact is usually caused by underexposure or bad resin properties, both can be solved by adding a bit of exposure. If that doesn't work decrease your lift speed by 25%.

Kinda funny cause the supports where all printed but not mini connected to them.

I just printed again had 2 print just right other 4 failed.

I put this cool heater in my epax. Just magnet it to the inner wall. It was always cold as I have a 4inch exhaust tube out the window. https://www.patreon.com/posts/diy-epax-x1-33257127

Haven't had a miniature fail until last night and this is the first time I'm using pre supported models but I have a feeling my house was to cold last night. Everyone else is printing so i know its on my end.

I’ll be honest - I can’t wait for him do you more of your stuff. I want to print everything from April

Matt Horbund - Potent3D

Thanks for letting us know, Matthew! I'm so glad you had a good experience with them.

Cast n Play

They came out so nicely. I printed 3 last night before bed and even without being careful they look great. Will clean and share on discord later this weekend

These were mind for resin. But we have seen people on discord print them on Fdm as well. Would not recommend 100% because of the size of them. But I guess it can be done

Are the STLs for FDM, or are these all for resin?

Hi Stu, it is on purpose. The reason is that after several tests, printing such small pieces was nearly impossible to de-support without breaking them. For these ones we decided to support the complete ones because of that reason. But we'll be supporting modular options for bigger models. Also, we've decided to add an extra this month we will be supporting the Throwback folder as well + Undead Drake (FMD and DLP)

Cast n Play

I've noticed that the presupported files are full kobolds rather than the modular pieces, is this on purpose?

Stu

Chitubox :)

These look amazing! (as usual) What program do you use to get those supports? They don't look like Cura or Meshmixer...
