Nirvana Issue 5 is here! So excited to show you guys our first issue overseas since the lockdown. It was so much fun to revisit Tulum, as you know I absolutely love being here - the energy is amazing and it's just good vibes. We are also featuring Marija from Serbia and got to see her amazing art work. I hope you guys like this issue and I can't wait to take you on our next adventure!

Can I Change? Rachel posed the question, “Can people really change?” I would have to say, yes and no. The science part of me knows that the neuroplasticity of the brain stops at age 25 (Sorry Rachel!). So, the wiring of the brain is set and natural changes to the personality are difficult. There are also personality disorders (antisocial, borderline, schizoid, obsessive compulsive) which are so ingrained in some that they can only be modified to become socially acceptable or to live meaningful lives. As I have been going on this personal journey to reflect on myself, the next step is meaningful change. Not just to say it but to do it. It’s not a New Years resolution type bullshit that ends by February. It has to be conscious and subconscious, a paradigm shift. I feel I need a growth mindset and be open to advice and criticism but not feel down about my prior self or live in the past. I know meaningful change will take time, it’s not an ‘a-ha!’ moment but will be as forming a new habit. As I have come onto some realizations of myself, they have been accompanied with a release of emotion. A shedding of weight and unfortunately some shame. The shame comes from not being ego-centric but from how my actions affected the people around me. I have to let that last part go because I know they will forgive me. So, in order for me to rewire my brain I will also need to nurture what neuroplasticity is left. Physical exercise, mindfulness exercises, learn and do new things, eat well, relax and get enough sleep are what I need to continue and add to my growth mindset in order to change.
