Nirvana Issue 4 - Carefree, AZ!

Hey guys!

How are you guys doing? I can't believe summer is already here! For the June issue, we went to Carefree, Arizona and explored the desert. I shot this super fun country-themed story with Rob (@robertvoltaire) and a polaroid story with Alvin (@dreamworld). We found this awesome ghost-town in the middle of the desert and went off-roading in a 1972 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser! It was so nice to get out of the city with the team.

I hope you guys love this issue as much as I do and stayed tuned because you will not want to miss the July issue!

Nirvana Issue 4 - Carefree, AZ!

Living life in fear In this issue Rachel talks about being carefree in her life and to have positive intentions. I am going to discuss the negative to help identify the problem, Fear, which she also mentioned. I have lived most of my life in a fear state. A lack of love from my parents mixed with fear of punishment, abandonment, and fear of failure shaped my early years. In a way the fears created some motivation to educate myself and survive on my own. My soul was deficient, but I didn’t know it. My modernist consciousness and driven career goals gave me tunnel vision. In the present, I have to fight back the fear of scarcity: “if I don’t do or buy this now I might miss the opportunity”. Or FOMO (fear of missing out), especially on social media, where we see people going out, having fun, or vacationing in exotic places. For work, fear of negative consequences (being sued for malpractice), where medical decision making then becomes defensive. I believe fear can have a role, it helps protect us at times. I again have to realize that life happens for me and not to me. I can’t complain or blame. As Rob stated in issue 2; “Excuses are there for those that need them.” If I do things out of love, or as Rachel added with good intention, then typically things will work out. I must also become detached to the outcome. As much as I may want a desired outcome and want to steer it that way, sometimes things don’t work out, and so maybe it wasn’t meant to be. Staying detached to the outcome helps me avoid frustration and anger. Living carefree sometimes seems difficult for me. I have to not live in the past but be present for myself, my wife and my children. A quote that means a lot to me is: “The past does not equal the future unless you live there.”

And I think you did a great job in getting that classic Land Cruiser FJ as part of your shoot! I hope there is an opportunity for a "Camel Trophy" or "Overland" theme shoot in the future featuring the classic Land Rover Defender!

Hi Rachel. Thanks for sharing a little piece of Americana on this issue. What a whimsical place Carefree, AZ seems to be! As a non American who do have roots in the US, its nice to see little bits of the US while we're still unable to travel internationally.

After stealing the gold she ran to a ghost town to hide it, but her disguise as Dali's ghost failed to frighten away the three hippies and their dog who made solving crime their pass time. Clearly the Scooby Gang had no appreciation of either surrealism or modern Spanish TV dramas. "Jinkeys! It was famous model Rachel Cook who stole the gold all along!" Fred declared. "That's right! And I would have got away with it too, if it hadn't been for you meddling kids!" Rachel cursed. Then Rachel gets hauled off by a lawman. They have to catch the train to the Arizona state prison in Yuma, at 3:15... (Next month, super criminal Rachel tries to escape from the world's greatest super-maximum security prison, aided by the tattoos she has on every part of her body. Yes, every part. Every part. )

You are prefect Rachel!

You were 10 min away from me

I love Carefree, since it's not too far from where I'm at in North Phoenix. Great place to hike and just get away. Also apparently a great spot to shoot insanely sexy pics :) Keep up the great content and stay safe!

What a great way to get my mind off all the crap going down across the country. So many great photos in this issue. You are sexy as hell! 🔥🔥🔥
