I would never think this song was from the 70s! I thought it was made much later then that. I remember several years ago when we were in the USA I was singing on one private party and there was Tony Harnel - the lead singer of TNT, and he was singing this song there and I was singing back vocals for him. Not sure how he is connected to Boston band, maybe he was one of the members there before or just he decided to sing this popular song.
To be able to sing low parts I had to lift it up 3 steps higher, and as you know it already has super high parts in the end. Even for men it's pretty hard to do. But men who's falcetto is pretty flexible - they can do it if they relax their throat and vocal chords. When I was trying to do it with falcetto voice - it sounded a bit like a child's opera, didn't have that special color of the voice to keep the song in it's rocky mood. So I had to turn on my chest voice, that's what I normally do when I record men's high parts. So I re-recorded those high parts several times until I made it.
I love Boston - this guy really has an amazing voice! I am preparing another song of Boston - won't tell you which one - but it's not Amanda. However I love Amanda and this is I think my fav song of Boston. But I think it's too low for me to sing, anyway I need to give it a try!
