Medical tipping points

TW: medical tipping points.

Sometimes, it's a warning from your doctor about your blood sugar or your blood pressure. And sometimes, you can just tell when you've pushed your body too far. And sometimes, you get so wrapped up in the gain, even though some of your major organ systems are telling you to STOP (the respiratory, circulatory, and digestive systems, in particular), your reproductive system (whom my best therapist called "Little Elvis") keeps pushing you to GO, GO, GO.

Sometimes, it takes a far larger (and wiser) gainer friend to remind you, "Say, didn't this happen the last time you pushed yourself to 200 kg?" And then you remember. And you look back on your recent hospitalizations, and six upper respiratory infections in 9 months, and how long it takes you to just walk across campus and up a couple flights of stairs to do your job.

In recovery work, it's called "hitting bottom." For gainers, I'm not sure what we call it. But I became aware of a much bigger picture, especially as a single person living alone.

So I succumbed to my doctor's pleas: she'd been begging me to start Wegovy since my first visit with her back in January. I'm starting my 10th week's dose now. And I am already aware of how much more mobility, flexibility, and endurance I have.

I will always love to eat: my belly and my dick are inseparable. But there's more to this than that. Who knew?
