A-New-War-On-Horizon? (V) [Chapter 300]

“You had such a bright future in front of you! Now, look at you! You are a wanted criminal! You are wanted for murder and kidnapping!!” Daniel Harper snarled, his face purple in rage, but Jacklyn didn’t even flinch. “How many countries are you wanted in?” Daniel asked with a growl.

“Eight countries” Madison Harper provided helpfully with a smile on her face as she continued to sip her tea. Unlike her husband, she wasn’t angry or disappointed at her daughter. In fact, she was proud of her daughter… She wouldn’t pretend to understand what led her daughter to become a henchman of a Dark Lord, but her daughter was big enough to make her own decisions.

“Nine, if you count the States… I am wanted for questioning for a couple of murders” Jacklyn added helpfully, earning a murderous scowl from her father.

“That is not something to be proud of!!” Daniel screamed, barely holding himself back from attacking his own daughter, but what could he do… He loved his daughter and that was why he was so angry and disappointed at her. Daniel slowly slumped down on a nearby crouch and started to rub his face, looking heartbroken and tired.

“I had such high hopes for you…” Daniel muttered in a low tone and for the first time, Jacklyn felt a bit bad for choosing her current lifestyle, but she didn’t regret anything.

“I know, Dad…” Jacklyn trailed off, trying to come up with the best way to explain her reasons to her father. “I could have become a professional duelist, but believe me, I would have been miserable. I like fighting, I learned that a long ago-” Jacklyn explained before she walked off to the nearby window and stared out.

“-Dueling was the closest thing to fighting, but dueling is not fighting! There are so many rules! It’s more of sport rather than fight” Jacklyn added passionately as she continued to stare outside. “However, Harry gave me a nice alternative. It was tempting and I decided to accept the offer” Jacklyn admitted as a smile formed on her face.

“The first time I fought someone for real, I felt alive… The danger was just so thrilling. The feeling of standing over your enemy after you beat them is simply amazing” Jacklyn purred. Then she slowly turned to face her mother and father, both of them were staring at her slack jawed and she could see that both of them were slightly disturbed by her admission.

“...Am I not right in the head? Probably. However, I am happy as I am. What I am doing might be wrong and I might end up becoming wanted by ICW or all the Magical and Muggle Governments all around the world if I keep going like this, but I don’t think I can stop now” Jacklyn shook her head with a grim look on her face.

“I have seen what it feels like and I don’t think I can go back now… I don’t even know if becoming normal is even an option for me anymore or if I can even become normal in the first place” Jacklyn sighed as she tightly hugged herself, looking distressed. “However I am not worried, nor I am scared” Jacklyn admitted softly as she stopped hugging herself and her form relaxed.

A soothing smile formed on her face… “With Harry beside me, I am not worried that something might happen to me. I have seen just how powerful he is… Dumbledore? Grindelwald? Voldemort? They are nothing but ants in front of him. He could crush the three of them together and not break a sweat” Jacklyn declared confidently.

“The ICW was completely powerless against Grindelwald, so how could they ever hope to stop someone like Harry?” Jacklyn asked. Obviously, it was a rhetorical question, so she didn’t even give them a chance to speak up as she continued. “However, Harry does not have any intention to take over the World. He simply wants to crave a place in the world for himself” Jacklyn finished with a sigh.

For the next couple of minutes, nobody said anything. Daniel and Madison were simply busy digesting everything Jacklyn said. They were still coming to terms that their daughter was a psychopath, but they realized that they should have seen it long ago. “...So, what is happening in Britain?” Daniel finally ended up asking, trying to distract himself.

“Voldemort never died… He did some stuff to prevent himself from dying back in the 80s” Jacklyn started to explain, but she decided not to tell them anything about the Horcruxes. “He regained a body recently through a Ritual and now Harry wants revenge, but the problem is that others are standing in his way” Jacklyn added with a scowl.

“Is that why you kidnapped the Durmstrung students?” Daniel snapped, still unable to comprehend why his daughter decided to kidnap some children or why Harry wanted to kidnap them in the first place.

“We would have left them be, but they decided to prevent us from killing a Death Eater. We lost a few members in the process, so Harry decided that he wanted a pound of their flesh. They are still unharmed and they are going to be released as soon as their parents and the Bulgarian Ministry decides to negotiate” Jacklyn finished with a shrug, leaving both of her parents stumped.

Once again, silence ensued as both Daniel and Madison continued to digest everything they learned from their daughter… After a couple of minutes, Madison finally stood up and started to approach Jacklyn. The younger girl simply stood tall, waiting for whatever her mother wanted to do. Maybe, she was going to get slapped or something, but Jacklyn was determined to keep standing tall.

After all, she didn’t regret any of the choices she made…

“Ohh, my poor baby girl. It must have been difficult for you” Madison sobbed as she quickly wrapped her arms around Jacklyn and pulled her into a tight hug, surprising Jacklyn as she wasn’t expecting a hug, but she accepted the hug nonetheless with a smile on her face.

“It wasn’t that difficult or anything. I had a really comfortable life thanks to you guys and even now Harry takes really good care of me” Jacklyn beamed at her mother who continued to hug her. After some time Madison finally released her daughter. Madison started to stroke her daughter’s cheek with a loving look on her face.

“I still don’t agree with what you are doing, but I am happy for you and a part of me is proud of you” Madison revealed once again surprising Jacklyn and Daniel more so. “It takes guts to decide that. You decided to leave behind the comforts and do what you desired to do” Madison added softly as she caressed her daughter’s face.

Jacklyn wasn’t able to hold back anymore a few tears trickled out of the corners of her eyes… “Thank you, Mom” Jacklyn released a watery chuckle as she tightly hugged her mother. It took a couple of minutes for her to finally calm down… “By the way, you guys should withdraw a lot of gold from your vaults” Jacklyn pointed out as she remembered why she was visiting in the first place.

“...Why?” Daniel asked with an audible gulp, not liking how her daughter made the request… She sounded like they were going to lose their vaults…
