I'm late to leaving a comment here (been largely away from social media in general lately), but this issue is very prevalent in the book publishing industry, too. Lots of "vanity publishers" looking to capitalize on authors' desire to be traditionally published while, in reality, are trying to milk the crap out of both your creation and your wallet via exorbitant rates and fees to pay upfront (the latter, alone, is usually a massive red flag).

2020-11-18 05:27:44 +0000 UTCVery interesting. Generally anyone who wants to take a percentage of the top in exchange for "representing" you is trying to rip you off. There are industries where you can't escape it (trying to get a publishing deal out of the slush pile for example is basically impossible) but hopefully online content creation won't be one of them. Wasn't aware some of the scum wanted a percentage of Patreon as well now, that seems particularly shady given the nature of the relationship on sites like this.
