Freedom

This  is the last photo shoot I did before taking a break. With everything that is going on in the world, this photo has a new meaning. How poignant it is to me that my work was evolving around how free we could be without shame. Now freedom takes on a different meaning and a different strength. This is a different kind of restriction on our freedom that we are experiencing, and for one of the first times, maybe in our lifetime, we are all experiencing this together globally. I cannot imagine one person that is not affected in some way by this "virus" and its lockdowns and quarantines around the world.

I will be mindful of of what I say, as I know this is a sensitive time, but my belief is that there are dark forces at work here, and I also believe that this has been planned, very well planned. my fear is that to continue flying freely around the world , people will be ordered to vaccinate. My second fear is that, the fear and panic will cause people to welcome it, when I feel we should be opposing it. Anything that is globally enforced to me does not feel like a good thing. 

On the positive side, the planet needs a rest. Less planes gives the skies a break, less people on the road gives the air a break from all this continued and relentless pollution. Being forced into lockdown and quarantine will allow families to see the cracks in their relationships to each other and themselves, and a time to reflect on life, and what is important. 

I look at this picture and I remember how fun and free that shoot was, standing so publicly next to the ferry harbour as the boats came in and out, cheekily photographing naked, and how different life feels now.

There is no enforced lockdown in Malta, and yet restaurants and cafes and social places are closed, and everyone seems to have put themselves into isolation. There are few people on the streets, and few people in their cars, and people are suspicious of each other. 

I feel so grateful that at least for now we have relative freedom on the internet.
