Shower time
Added 2018-11-11 09:16:29 +0000 UTCFeeling the water pour over me, I feel cocooned and comfortable. There are few places in the world amongst this society and all its prejudices and judgements where I feel more safe.
And in time I know that I will be able to share videos like this without any self consciousness at all. But for now, I am deeply in self doubt, shame and rejection. I have deeply internalised all the judgement against me. I have also deeply internalised all the expectations that my family had for me, my country, my friends and even perfect strangers who dump their projections onto me. Here in the shower I can wash all of that away and be myself...if only for a moment.
What do you have to wash away today? (and yes I appreciate I may have just got shot myself in the foot or landed myself in hot water, pun intended, as I said that, and you might be making a certain joke right now! And that's ok too. The more shame we can wash away, the more we can love and respect ourselves again. Until we do that, I don't believe that we can love and respect anyone else.
