Konoha, Land of Fire

–Kenta Akimichi–

After giving Teuchi all the money he had on himself, he got out of the busy streets and went on a walk, towards the periphery of the Hokage Tower, so that he could walk right into the Jounin meeting that was supposed to be held today.

Inadvertently, he found himself in front of the Konoha General Hospital. He could sense the chakra signatures of both Tsunade and her disciple from down here and only one of them was clearly working, and it was not the vastly stronger and larger chakra signature.

Sighing, he turned around, resolved to get the issue resolved, one way or another but not today. Today was his reintroduction back to the shinobi society.

Too bad they had no idea who the Uchiha was that could control the Nine Tails, and they were most likely an enemy. IF someone of that calibre was an ally, they could have easily just brainwashed Tsunade into forgetting her fear of blood or at least dulling it to the point of irrelevance, giving them back their best medic.

The first thing that he was going to make sure happened, by flexing his new found authority of being an official Senju, was to help create some sort of Medic program. Maybe that would be incentive enough for her to finally see a Yamanaka about that horrible mental problem of hers.

If he was not wrong, the Yamanaka had already cured all sorts of phobias even back when he was in the village. He was certain they were more advanced now that they had a relatively large period to research, and also because they got a large number of research subjects as well, to practice some of their more volatile practices on.

He never really liked the previous clan head of the Yamanaka clan, the man was always too clinical and cold for his liking and he knew it because he was forced to go to the man multiple times over a month because the higher ups were worried about his mental state because all he did was train, without making any effort on socialising with the rest of the clan.

Clan.

The word left an odd taste in his mouth as he looked in the distance, knowing that the Akimichi clan compound was in that direction, so was the Nara as well as Yamanaka compounds, his home from once upon a time. Home to the classic Ina-Shika-Cho combo that was a nightmare for any shinobi who was not a S-class shinobi.

They tried that with him as well, trying to conform him to an already existing combination, hoping to create another Ina-Shika-Cho combo aside from the one made up of clan heirs but as was evident, he was a unique case.

“Excuse me?” he looked up to hear a commotion ahead. His eyes narrowed as he saw shinobi signatures in the middle of civilian ones. He walked into the crowd, noting the multiple suppressed chakar signatures observing the whole thing, as he finally reached the rough circle in the center.

A visibly drunk man, a shinobi, who was not drunk at all, if his chakra signature was anything to go by, was yelling and shouting at another shinobi, who was an Uchiha from the looks of it.

More specifically, a Uchiha from the Uchiha Police Force, going by their uniform, which had not changed at all in the decade and more that he had been absent. He opted to wait and watch because this was clearly not normal, before intervening if things escalated beyond shouting and yelling.

“Huh? Speak you, red-eyed bastard. What were you doing that night? Where were you when I-” The drunkard’s voice hitched, and he had to give it to the man for his acting, “--I lost her. What were you doing?”

The Uchiha clearly did not like being called a red eyed man, as their Sharingan–Two Tomoe–activated and glared at the drunkard, but not doing anything, actively restraining themselves into a neutral, non threatening posture.

“I have no idea what you are talking about. In accordance to the orders from the village, the Uchiha clan—”

The man interrupted, clearly surprised when the drunkard lunged at the man with clear movements, the drunkenness vanishing as the Uchiha was forced to defend himself. He looked to the side as those chakra signatures, suppressed as they were, refused to act, just watching as the crowd dispersed due to two shinobi fighting in the middle of the business district.

He kept his chakra signature hidden from everyone as he watched the fight, noting that the drunken man was constantly on the offensive with Taijutsu, and the Uchiha, on the other hand, did nothing but defend himself.

Deflecting all blows, the Uchiha was keeping calm, though the angry look on his face was telling. Something was wrong here, he could tell.

The shinobi watching over should have intervened by now and the man was clearly not drunk. This was calculated. Where were the other members of the Uchiha Police Force? The ANBU? Any other shinobi?

The fight had clearly escalated beyond the bounds of a petty conflict, and was gathering a bit of a crowd. Still, it was not his fight to stop and he was a bit curious about the shinobi on the rooftops, as well as the crowds who were just watching with their chakra suppressed.

He wondered if he could–

His body moved on its own the second the flash of a steel hit his eyes, appearing in the middle of both shinobi, holding onto the wrist of the Uchiha shinobi who was about to form hand seals, and onto the kunai of the fake drunk shinobi.

With a small squeeze, the kunai shattered within his fingers, as both the shinobi jumped back, clearly surprised by his intervention. Straightening up, he eyed the hidden shinobi who began leaving one by one, before turning to the shinnobi who was not drunk anymore, eyeing him with absolute alarm in his eyes.

“Leave.” He eyed the Uchiha who looked curious and was rubbing his wrist. “Now!”

The shinobi left as the crowd slowly shuffled away, curious about the abrupt ending of a fight but not willing to question the unknown shinobi.

The sun shone on the street as he realised he knew far less than he would have liked about the Shinobi politics of Konoha and if he was being thrust into a very important political position, then he might have to learn the ins and outs of what happened in Konoha.

Shaking his head, he added that task to the pile of already growing tasks before moving to the Hokage Tower.

Hokage Tower

–Hiruzen Sarutobi–

He watched as the projection shut itself off now that he was no longer supplying any chakra to it. The Telescope technique was one of his personal favourites, allowing him to watch over the entirety of Konoha as long as the barrier surrounding it was kept active.

The barrier around Konoha was one of the few things that he ordered to be brought back online on a priority basis, because without the barrier, his technique would not have anything to piggyback off of.

His eyes narrowed as he remembered what he saw. A commotion in the Business district, near the Hokage Tower. A fight between a Uchiha and a civilian born shinobi. He looked drunk before but as soon as the fight began in earnest, the moves of that man did not seem like a drunk person.

He watched Kenta arrive, and watch them fighting and then intervened in the fight when the civilian shinobi drew a Kunai, clearly intending to escalate the fight.

His eyes narrowed as he looked through the window. This reeked of Danzo. Something to light up public perception against the Uchiha, so that the plan to relocate their clan compound to the edge of the village would gain support.

Not that he would let that happen but the wounds of that day were still fresh in the minds of everyone, civilians and shinobi alike. Even he, being the Hokage, would not be able to suppress all those dissenting minds if everyone was made to believe that the Uchiha clan was truly the one response for the Nine Tails attack.

He would have to begin the meeting today with that, to make sure that the Jounins did not believe that simply having the Sharingan visible to everyone in the Nine-Tails’ eyes didn’t mean that anyone from the Uchiha clan was the one who attacked the village.

The fact that the Uchiha clan had no one strong enough to do that was going to be his biggest bet.

That would clearly meet some resistance but he would then just move onto the next important announcement, which was the reintroduction of a member of the Senju clan, and if Tsunade agrees, the next Clan Head of the Senju clan, which should bring him more support as having the official votes of both of the Founding Clans would mean that the Uchiha clan would no longer have to move to the edge of the village.

For he knew the Uchiha madness and contrary to what Danzo preached to anyone who listened, pushing the Uchiha into that same madness was not going to benefit the village in any meaningful way.
