Pre-Battle Round Up

Disclaimer: This video was filmed using my new setup with OBS, and with full transparency, the quality of this video does not meet my typical content standards. This is definitely the downside to filming first reactions because I'm only able to fix so much :/ I have identified the issues and corrected them, so I don't believe this issue should recur. The two main issues were that the video quality captured wasn't as high as it should have been (although that might not be as noticeable, since Patreon typically lowers the quality a bit anyway), and an audio echo. I performed a few test runs before recording this video, but unfortunately, I suspect that something in the music or my environment triggered a noise reducer to activate, which only served to create a noticeable echo that appears and disappears throughout this video. I have been working on editing this video for several days now, trying to fix as much as possible. I managed to extract almost every time I spoke, run it through a program I found, and then edit it back in, which removed most of the echo. The echo didn't impact all the songs themselves, but for the parts it did, the process I did with my audio didn't work as the program was too confused by the other production elements. Just wanted to give a heads up, and I'm so sorry for any inconvenience. - Vambie

Pre-Battle Round Up

Comments

I'm not sure if anyone else has commented about this (I'm a bit late to this video). Kendrick has a song on his Overly Dedicated mixtape called Alien Girl. He describes how the woman is incredibly attractive, but he has no idea where she's from, so he describes her as an alien. In Buried Alive Interlude (which came out a year after), when he calls the woman an alien, I believe it is a direct reference to that song.

That is such a perfect comparison for the Hillbillies video lmao. That’s exactly what this is. Just a crappy, funny video filled with nonsense that you and your cousin did at the mall all day. Perfect way to describe it 😂😂

MacD

Pusha t did speak on how his songs are angry and full of lies. So when you speak about his music changing, it did and pusha spoke on that.

I never listened to Sticky, so hearing that Hillbillies was a remix on the beat was just amazinggg. Everything hits so much better knowing that

Euph

Can’t wait for the battle reactions, but thank you for doing your due diligence and going through all of these first. It will give so much context to the actual beef, most reactors didn’t do their homework

drew tomevi

Did she ever listen to the control verse and the BET freestyle? Or is that coming later

In regards to the whole protecting his child from the limelight: Pusha alleges that drake had an adidas clothing line dropping, the name of the drop being adidon. Drake adresses this saying there was a deal with adidas and that he pitched a name close to adonis, but that it wasnt intended to announce his child, the deal fell through. To me it seems that he attempted to monetize the birth of his child and when that plan was exposed both parties dropped out of the deal because of bad PR. We will never know though, just sounds fishy to say that it was never the intention when the deal got cancelled presumably because of the story of adidon, who knows

Elijah

Not sure if that was brought up, but I really like how on his superbowl performance, the last song Kendrick adjusted his lyrics to say "they talk about - i did it", which is a direct reference to drake and jcole song

Vambie, I know you’re a little hesitant to jump into the battle without fully understanding the background. But don’t worry, most people didn’t know the full reasons either because Kendrick never made it crystal clear before. That’s part of the journey: discovering Kendrick’s motives as the battle unfolds. He clarifies everything himself, saying, “This is why, and this, this, and that.” So don’t worry, no one explains it better than Kendrick himself. Also, checking out Kendrick’s diss tracks on Genius it will be super necessary. There’s a ton of info even hardcore RAP fans from within the Culture weren’t aware of. For example, imDontai initially resisted reading Genius during the Euphoria live stream, saying to the chat, “I’m not stupid; I can figure this out myself.” But once he gave in to the chat’s pressure, he was like, “OMG, this really happened?”; “OMG, I didn’t know about that!”; “OMG, I had forgotten about this!” And don’t worry, Kendrick will explain even more in his last album, GNX.

You are not misremembering. Drake used to sing much more respectfully about women. As he started to rap more than sing and take on more of a “hip-hop” aesthetic, it started to get worse and worse. I think this is a microcosm of Kendrick and many people’s problem with Drake. Instead of being a true student of hip-hop and understanding what it is about, he just takes parts from it without truly understanding. And unfortunately one of the flaws of hip-hop has always been the disrespect of women. But instead of trying to analyze and face that head on in the way Kendrick and Cole have, Drake just regurgitates it without question because that’s what he thinks it means to be a rapper.

Instead of range brothers, THIS is where you should listened to family ties
