Work Break and sketches (Hi-Res)

A piece for Talaran of FA! Taldir's already ahead of quota today, so a  quick break in the afternoon sun seems like it's in order.

Also, bonus upload of a sketch I did for my husband, Goolashe, for a future maybe-potential Synth character. And a kobold variant of Deriaz, though I think the face needs a bit of scaling back as its very busy in detail in some spots.

Hi! I got a new tablet!

Goolashe is in a class for full stack development classes, but cashed out some stuff in order to have some spending money, and take care of bills to help out a little bit more. During this period, he saw a Prime Day sale for a tablet I've been looking at for a while -- the Huion Kamvas Pro 16. He has been wanting to help me out with my work somehow, and jumped on the opportunity to get something very cheap that might get me away from Wacom.

And WOW. IS THIS HOW SMOOTH DIGITAL WORK IS SUPPOSED TO BE!?

There's no dead pixels out of the box. No light bleed. The pen just works, flawlessly, smoothly. The color calibration was practically perfect (just a smidge too orange, like seriously 1% off). The buttons built in just work. The drivers have no errors and are super responsive. And it's silent and cold no matter how long its on. I'm floored. I have been on hard mode without realizing it for a long time, on a product that's like three times as expensive, and it has no right to be.

While I am still humbled by the friends who pooled together years ago to get me my old Cintiq... Gosh. I'm still very excited about this new tablet, even just having it on and looking at it. It's so nice. So clean. ahhhh.

Otherwise, I've been streaming again! Trying to fight back against some anxiety. Right now, I have been doing games on Monday, a day off, and Tuesday to do some painting and such. I think Sundays will be my sketch and study days still. We'll see if I want to do more than that -- I dunno about every day, but it's nice to finally get over the hurdle and realize "eh, fuck it, I want to just stream and have a quiet jam session, even if it's just to one other person." I'm so tired about trying to "get on the grind". And I think part of that is also thanks to Twitter shitting the bed lately, forcing me to be more active on smaller, federated communities, like meow.social over on Mastodon.

It's been nice. It feels... freeing, in a way. The combo of a new tablet that works so nicely, plus the streams (even just game streams), to viewing quieter communities more... It feels nice. Working to get used to some of my painting brushes and how they are _supposed to work_. Hope you all have been well, too. I will be reaching out to some of your shortly!!
