Some people go to New York to see various landmarks, like the Empire State Building or Central Park. Me, though? I know the best one of them all, and he's got a heart to match his size, too. c:

Trying to be okay with messier spots already to stop myself from being so perfectionist and taking a long time on what are, ultimately, "smaller projects". Even though, well, I'm still painting everything. Areas like the neck line or parts of the city in the background, normally my habit would be to try and paint out every part of the city, even though no one's going to look there. I think it's very difficult for me to disconnect the time I spend on making it look how I want, versus how others will come in and simply see the end result. I tend to think that viewers will also know of the time I spent which... Simply isn't true.
I know, that's a big 5head galaxy brain thing there, but for real! Outside of if someone saw the whole streamed thing, sometimes I forget that, and it's why I tend to tunnel in on things and over-refine everything. Alongside trying to rein in my saturation control a little bit, I'm really proud of myself on this one for letting messy and unimportant parts stay messy, letting the impression carry it, rather than needing every little bit done. I'm hoping to get better at that over time -- I think it works well in the character and in parts of the city, though I think the effect is lost further into the background? Hard to say.
Regardless, 2022 is off to a pretty good start. Finished Myr, finished one of my collabs, finished this, and we're only in the first week so far plus booster shot reeling. Fingers crossed this momentum keeps up! I won't try and push it, but I'm hopeful. I hope the new year has been kind to you all as well so far. May it continue to be, after the hell the past two have been.
