Well. This is strange. I started this back in November, but repainted it a few times, and wondered if it was worth finishing up. But we're here.

Bruce is a character whose meant a lot to me over time, even if I've never capitalized on it. A foil to Deriaz, he's meant to be what I wish I were physically, but with the same emotional and environmental situation as I have... Obviously, that doesn't really hold true any more. He's kind of become his own thing, daresay a more figurehead character than Deriaz himself. People ask more about the boxelder bug than the iguana! I almost considered making him my only guy for a bit, even.

He's become, instead, a figure of regret in my head, at least for the past while. A symbol of how little I draw personal work, how I used to chase after numbers like favorites and comments, how I used to be consistently depressed and loathed myself to the point that I wouldn't even look at myself in a mirror when brushing up for the day. I want to fix that. So it makes sense for him to have been finished up, to be the first personal work I upload here and around the net in a few days. Of course, I didn't get to finish him IN January but, shh, we still take stumbling victories!

(Oh, and as for why I dinged up the fake-gold ring a bit? I starting head-canoning this as Bruce's first [very local, very small] competition win, and this being one of the photos of a photoshoot. It, uh, has fallen off the chains a few times... And maybe cracked once... VERY small, VERY local.)

Every damn night, for years of my life, I've spent driving around this miserable city.

Just looking through windows at people alone, for an answer, a reason to live.

But every day since, I've been peeling away at this counterfeit skin that just got in the way.

I can see my reflection, and clearly can say, "It's a pleasure to meet you again."
