Same goddess, though she is definitely more in the camp of Illisaya as a "decaying mistress." These things will all get more attention in 3 πŸ™‚

Speaking of which, is Talona a priestess of the same religion that raised Tahira? And if there are more gods than just the trio worshipped in latter day Darenthi, does that mean each of those god-thingys that were the basis of the conflict in Amazon's Vengeance is from one of the actual gods? If so, does that mean, based on the Spider Queen alt series, Sehris in White Throne is secretly a conduit like Tahira was prior to her death/apotheosis? What I got from this latest book was that Palerending is actually a divine power, so might that mean Delaryn's power might be due to her intimacy with Sehris?

Or I guess put another way, I think it is more interesting when characters get challenged so I wanted all of them to have bad things happen to give them a chance to grow and be more real

Yeah it's that way for a reason πŸ˜…. But Sariss is set up to do the priestess versus priestess plotline in book 3

Gotta feel for Sariss. She gets a proposal from a dragon, and that's the dream for an Avetharri girl. She is going to be his First Wife, and rule the roost, she's been training and studying hard for this, and she's going to run this harem properly, with all the authority of her position. And then it turns out that the first four members of the harem are not only all lesser races, but they are the girl who got his cherry, the girl who bore his firstborn son, and the last one, the one who is a mere dustborn, turns out to be an actual dragon, to whom she owes deference bordering on worship. What even is the point of being First Wife? On the other hand, from a Doylist perspective, good job spreading out those claims to make the harem relatively equal in spite of the structure imposed by their society. It's a nice microcosm of the kind of reformer Alamir wants to be.
