In other news, I am trying to plot out a course for the rest of the year. Now that SoS is finished, I feel like I can open a new sci-fi track with The Lost Fleet, which I'm very excited about. We'll get a glimpse of what the Dominion fleet/culture is really like, plus a new MC who is very different from Cole or Dorian. He's a ground-pounder soldier with psionic fortification powers similar to Vestri - basically a human tank. But since he is a natural-born colonist (aka "natty"), he is often treated poorly by the fancy fleet officers. He'll have to earn the respect of a particular hot co-ed officer (featured in the cover art!) and team up with some alien girls to unravel new mysteries! I might end up starting this right away, not sure yet.
For Wyrm Lord universe stories, the situation is a bit more complicated! I badly want to delve into the Avetharri era this year, but with two other ongoing series, I know I should probably close at least one of them off first.
To that end, a poll question: which existing fantasy story should Sarah wrap up first?
Blade of Highwind
When we left off, Mirek and Shay are in trouble! Can they escape and find the amazon + stop Veleca and the Senosi in time? I think I can wrap this up in one book but I'm not 100% sure. In any event, the ending will set up future adventures in the "white throne" timeline, since it is all taking place at the same time period about 20 years after The Amazon's Pledge.
War of the White Throne
The battle for the Crossing is over, but now things are getting real. The group has to split up to cover more ground: while Sehris/Yria fly north to try to find Delaryn, Rohen and Jess ride to Griffonwing to confront her father. We learn how Kraythe got his powers...and we may finally learn what happened to the Dragon of Highwind all these years! (This series has two books left)
