Just because, as someone with few relevant skills and no real training in statecraft, he probably wouldn't be good at the job. Though the fact that he'd be eaten alive by the factionalism in the government is also a factor. Still feel the whole humans = good, taleen = bad bit is being played a bit too pat, though I guess the fact that most aliens dislike humans for good reason was brought up two books ago.

2018-09-02 02:03:39 +0000 UTC...See, as of this third interlude, I think I've figured out who the Spectre is, and that terrifies me, because I can't help but worry that the only reason that character would get top billing is if they were about to die to show how serious the situation is. And I really don't want that character to die to show how serious the situation is...
