Deku finally gets his glaze

Comments

Fair take, but you're in the minority here as clearly more fans seem to enjoy this mini arc than those who didn't like it.

WeightOfTheWorld2049

the speech is way better in the dub

HybridThizzle

My biggest problem in this season was how short Dekus vigilante arc was. It only lasted for an episode, well, 1 and a half if we are being generous, but the impact and connection its set up to have on the following plot points was huge, yet ended up falling flat and uninspiring. Had the vigilante arc been longer, and were we able to see the impact it had on the whole 1A class, Bakugo and Ochako especially, before they stormed into the principles office, it could have been a way more impactful and emotional moment. Ochakos speech aint the best either. Ideally, if they cut down on the flashbacks of how she wants to see people smile, (cuz lets be real, we have seen this flashback multiple times in previous seasons, the last thing I want is for it to interrupt a big moment), and added more of the speech, it would have been way more touching.

Nico

Good episodes, and I like Ochako, but for some reason her speech was very lackluster lol even on rewatch just felt weak. I also think they needed to explore the whole "vigilante" part of Deku for longer than they did for it to actually hit correctly. It's what makes this half of the season the lowest point of the show for me, even more than Gentle criminal who was a lot more enjoyable on rewatch lol still think it's good of course. Just definitely it's weakest point for me.

Zess

You’re not misunderstanding that’s literally it. Isn’t that ridiculous?

humbleandkindness

I think Ochaco's speech is much better in dub

Reese

So do these Deku Haters I’ve heard so much about dislike him literally because Deku is a ‘crybaby?’ Like, that’s it? That’s seriously the reason?? Or am I misunderstanding something? Is there something bad about crying - for any age, sex, gender, etc.? Maybe it’s because I’m Japanese and the culture is different, but I grew up with people telling me to become a strong and kind person who can shed tears for myself and others. I guess I’m just confused 😵‍💫. If I’m misunderstanding something please let me know. But for me, I cry because I’m human. And I love Deku for being human ❤️

OK, fess up, who's cutting onions? My eyes hurt.

The Bakugo profile pic seems very fitting now 😂 Totally agree tho

finally caught up after like a month lol yayyy

a_daichi

why do the most anticipated drops always gotta come out so late 😭 it's like they're doing it on purpose atp

cozo

Well they ended stream so now we wait

Mdmarki

Also side note I think it’s mad funny that Bakugo was like “yeahhhhhh we’ve done this whole talk-and-fight thing before I’m not doing that again I cried last time I’ll wait until he’s standing still”

humbleandkindness

TLDR: Bakugo’s willingness to publicly take accountability and apologize to Izuku is what separates him from Endeavor, makes his redemption possible, and re-emphasizes the story’s theme of how we win when we work together as weaklings instead of relying on one strong person. As I’m rewatching this while waiting for the new drop, Cannon and Jack’s comments right around the 20 minute mark kinda stuck out to me: Bakugo needs to atone similar to how Endeavor needed to, but there are two main differences between them: 1)(the thing that I noticed) Bakugo owns up to his own mistakes and actions, and he takes accountability for/confronts his past Publicly, which in turn makes it so 2) it’s not too late for Bakugo to redeem himself. I think it ties back into the message that one perfect person is not enough to protect/save society - Endeavor’s efforts to become strong/perfect enough to surpass All Might, and his action towards his family to achieve that goal, is the focal point of their entire struggle/family dynamic. It’s also part of what makes his redemption impossible, and Dabi helped make sure of that by making everything public. Conversely, Bakugo’s willing to confront the ugly parts of himself in order to “save” Izuku, Japan, and even himself, and he’s willing to do whatever necessary to make it happen, even at risk of his reputation and/or health. That’s exactly what makes his redemption possible, but not inevitable- he had to earn it. Toya and Izuku play just as essential roles in this - Toya puts the final nail in the coffin when he announces Endeavor’s past to the world - a natural consequence of his actions. Izuku, however, never says a word about what Bakugo has done. In a way, he “saves” Bakugo by giving him a chance to redeem himself/change. When Bakugo decides to do exactly that, he “wins” against the ugly parts of himself, and atones by apologizing to Izuku in front of everyone. In this moment he “saves” Izuku so they can “win” against AFO and Shigaraki. Was it the right thing to do to protect Bakugo? I don’t know personally. But it is worth noting that these are teenagers, and at the beginning of the story they were literally in MIDDLE school aka hell on earth. Bakugo spent his entire childhood up to that point being told he was the best by almost all of the adults in his life. Unfortunately he lowkey was - big fish in a small pond situation. They also let Izuku be pushed to the bottom rung of the social ladder, while feeding the idea that Bakugo should get what he wants because he’s the strongest and it’s inevitable, which is what Causes Bakugo’s issues in the first place. Why would someone so far beneath him (Izuku) have the idea that they could help anyone, if no one is beneath them? Strong is good, weak is bad. If someone weak is looking down on him, doesn’t that mean they think He’s weak? Doesn’t that mean He’s bad? And thus, Bakugo Katsuki. The mistakes those adults made could have produced another Endeavor - someone powerful, but unwilling to admit to faults or imperfections, and prone to outbursts when someone gets in their way. But Bakugo is different. His focus on becoming the best is so singular that everything, even his personal flaws, is subject to change as soon as he recognizes it needs to. If there had been better adults in his life, maybe it could have happened earlier, we’ll never know. But over time, he becomes less and less afraid of admitting to weakness, all for the sake of getting stronger. It’s his own initiative to become better that makes the change happen, instead of facing the consequences once it’s too late like with Endeavor, but change only becomes reality once he starts leaning on other people to help him get there. Meeting people just as strong as him (Kirishima) that he can respect, learning about his own weaknesses (All Might final exam), having to deal with the sway of public opinion (the sludge monster, school festival) and confronting the fact that no one person can do everything forever (Kamino). Izuku is there for it all, good and bad, never gives up on him, and he becomes Bakugo’s biggest example of confronting your own weaknesses. This theme of being inspired by others, and recognizing that collective effort is what wins the day, doesn’t always shine through in the story as much as I’d like it to, but when it does, oh man, is it glorious. This moment where Bakugo is willing to be fully honest not just about Izuku but TO him, is one of my favorite examples of that. Bakugo isn’t about lip service - if he’s going to tell Izuku to be vulnerable/weak, then he’s gonna do it first. Again, I often feel that the plot of MHA often leaves something to be desired, but when it comes to using characters to push a narrative forward or represent the story itself, he’s in his bag. (Now if only he would have done that with more of his female characters ✋🏽😔)

humbleandkindness

In the nicest way possible brother, that sounds more like a skill issue than anything else

I kind of think Ashido was failed by the writing. A lot of the girl characters don't get quite enough screen time, which is a shame because i think there's a lot of thought and effort put into their characterization

I’ll probably get shit for this, but I have to say it: please, please please let go of the idea that “getting the girl” is a male hero’s happily ever after/happy ending. I get that you guys have expectations based on shonen anime tropes, but MHA has its own story to tell. Just… I beg you to let go of these antiquated ideas of what a happy ending should look like and to not assume romance is the end-all be-all for a protagonist.

Aizawa is the greatest, one of the best teacher/student dynamics because he cares and gives so much to his class. I hate he got injured but the eye patch is really cool!

Yes Jack we've seen that guy before, in the very first episode! It's amazing you remembered After these episodes it's so hard to imagine that a lot of people really hate this anime :D

I like how Bakugo apologized to Deku and owned up to why he treated him So poorly. I also loved how Uruaka stood up to the crowd and got them to see that Deku is just a kid and trying to do his best. I'm excited but said that the show is almost near its end!

Jenny D

The way Bakugo's facial expressions have softened as the seasons go onnn. My babyyy

All might

I am not sure if this is mentioned already, but I love what Midoriya used to do when he rescued Bakugo (Letting Kirishima do the word instead of him) that it's basically the same what Bakugo does for the recue of Midoriya (letting Iida do the word) before the apologizing. It's such a great parallel but it also hits harder the moment Bakugo genuinely apologized to him. The timing, the moment and infront of the class, making this a bit more emotional. It's probably very noticeable, but nice to mention as a separate comment

ayden

Happy Birthday!!

ge_minight

Yeah finally I’m watching it rn. My fav episode on my birthday? Couldn’t have been better

katsuki’s wife

This is the true form of One for All y'all, not just about the users of this power, but also the people that are connected by it. All Might inspired the whole young generation of Deku and friends, but his era is still a one-man show. Only when Deku, class A, and everyone followed in his footsteps that society actually shifted. That's why this is the story of how everyone became the greatest heroes, where society gets better when each person contributes, where heroes have too much time in their hands.

Hanah

It is actually one of the few scenes in the MHA dub which I find to be extremely weak. Not just in comparison to the sub which is stellar, but just weak in general.

Albin Limani

I'm not sure if Carter breathed during these episodes, the Deku focused episodes had him locked in haha

Dub_quinn

These episodes had me tearing up like Deku I swear, too good. Connections between so many characters that we've known coming together in this culmination of events really brings it all together.

Vextipher

McKay saying random civilians can fight Shigaraki after Ochaco's speech lol, we have the best Deku supporters here, just let our hero take a bath!

Dub_quinn

I'm so happy to see you guys connect emotionally to this series the way so many of us have. ❤️

JevCor

did you guys remember that's the old guy from the first episode? haha

zoldaic

ANYWAYS, excuse the long comments full of analysis but I just also wanted to point out a small detail that most people miss. The move Katsuki used to propel him and Iida up to the sky where Izuku was in ep 23 was the one that he used when his body moved on its own during the war and he took the blows meant for Izuku and almost died as a result. He calls it "cluster" and you can see where it gets its name from, and how the tiny rainbow-looking explosions are exactly the same as in S6 Ep 9 when they showed him propelling himself to save Izuku. I'm just in awe of Katsuki. He mastered that move in such a short time, and used it in his quest to get Izuku back from the clutches of All For One's haunting words. We love to see it. Also I wanted to see Izuku getting his bath so badly in ep 24 I was so sad when the episode ended. I can't wait for the next drop!! Season 7 is about to crazy!!

Moon

Uraraka's speech and plea to members of the public always gets me emotional and tear-eyed. Her constant wondering about who saves the heroes when they are hurting has been hinted at since the early seasons, and subsequently shown explicitly in S5 when Blackwhip manifested and Izuku was in pain and struggling to contain it. You notice that she never states who it is she thinks are the people who save heroes when they're hurting, but it's more than obvious just from the interactions of the public with Izuku and the heroes after her speech. It's the heroes' supporters who save heroes. Because by taking that "extra step" Principal Nezu was talking about, Kota and the heteromorph girl Izuku saved were able to bridge the gap between the public and Izuku (and the heroes, by extension). And because of that connection, it allowed people who were previously only thinking about themselves start to think about society as a whole and what would benefit it best. Heroes and the public work IN TANDEM to create a peaceful society. Before, it was the heroes doing a lot of the heavy lifting, mostly because civilians got too comfortable living in peace with the existence of All Might. All they did was worship and praise the heroes. They didn't contribute when they could, like when people on the street outright ignored a young Tenko (Shigaraki) who was in desperate need of a hero's help. They just thought it wasn't any of their business and went about their way, without knowing that THEY are the eyes and ears of hero society, and that they have a part to play as well. As Uraraka implies, right now, the people heroes protect are who can protect heroes as well. When heroes have people to protect, they can do anything in the face of danger. And with the support of the people they protect, they are re-energised, enthusiastic and even more devoted to their hero work. It's a mutual relationship of assistance that had been left alone before because it wasn't really needed. But it is now more than ever if the heroes are to defeat All For One and Shigaraki at all. Because Izuku can't do it alone. He needs help. But heroes aren't the only ones he needs help from. He needs the public's support. He needs their encouragement and understanding. They need to know he's trying his best for them in order to get their lives back, and once they do know, they allow him to recharge and head out once more. It's just the way a governing body and its subjects work. And it's a great episode to highlight how Uraraka's constant speculation has finally made its mark on Izuku's journey as a hero.

deku haters can’t be real

Continuing on from my previous comment. The "one who knows him best" is obv Katsuki. As the one who started this entire movement from Class 1A, he intends to ensure the job is well and truly finished. And how does he do that? He. Pours. His. Heart. Out. To Izuku. In front of all their classmates and friends. Without fear or hesitation. Just the words he's been meaning to say since they came to understand each other after their 2nd fight at Ground Beta in S3. We know Katsuki is volatile. He's perpetually grumpy, quick to anger, has both a superiority and inferiority complex regarding Izuku, a foul mouth AND mountains of pride. But he is not incapable of putting all those aside when it really matters. And bringing Izuku back to UA is one of those moments. Despite coming to terms with his feelings about Izuku and reflecting on his past actions (bullying Izuku, making fun and looking down on him, fearing him, rejecting him, etc.), Katsuki has never stated his thoughts out loud. Izuku only knows a tiny bit of his perspective, and that was because Katsuki lost control over his mouth and temper during their 2nd fight. Katsuki has never been a good communicator, not when it comes to emotions and relationships at least. But in ep 23, he speaks to Izuku's heart. He tells him everything he's realised and has wanted to say to him, from how he feared Izuku's selflessness and heroism (because it seemed to undermine his own capacity as a hero and personal capability), to the reason he kept bullying him (to reject him and make him go away so that he won't have to feel so uneasy in his presence, which Izuku pointedly does NOT do), to his insecurity regarding their time in UA when he kept lagging behind Izuku after having looked down on him his whole life (disbelief setting in, realisation is met with denial and he lashes out). His emotions come pouring out of him like the rain pouring from the sky. Katsuki is very much an "actions speak louder than words" person. So it's unusual and unlike him to be so open using WORDS. His apology is the culmination of his journey as a person throughout the series so far. From a middle school bully with an angsty phase, a teen with anger issues, to a grudging rival, to a worthy friend - Katsuki has gone through many stages to reach his current position. He's struggled with his inner weaknesses, overcome them with sheer will, talent and hard work, and evolved into someone who can engage in introspection without blowing a fuse over Izuku's presence in his memories and everyday life. When he speaks to Izuku, it is with conviction, with determination, with honesty. He doesn't sugarcoat anything, he admits his faults, and he follows it all up with Izuku's goodness, his heroism, and how he hasn't done anything wrong. He grabs the part of Izuku that he had always stomped on and praises it. Saying that that part of him (the hero side of him) needs saving, and Katsuki is one of the people there who is striving to achieve that goal. And then he calls him "Izuku". Not "Deku" or "you damn nerd" or "scum". He calls Izuku's name, like he did when they were young children, before quirks and before their relationship fell apart. He's speaking to the child inside Izuku whose hand he never took in that creek he fell into, whose heroism he always looked down on, and he comforts that child. He takes that child's hand willingly now that it's his turn to offer his help to Izuku, and hopes that Izuku will take his hand too by accepting his help. And he does. Izuku falls, exhaustion finally catching up to him. And Katsuki, being nearest but also because he was probably waiting for that to happen, catches him. Katsuki catching him in his arms basically symbolises Izuku taking his hand and allowing himself to be helped. And when he finally feels safe with Katsuki's reassurance that Class 1A knows he's sorry about saying they couldn't keep up, he passes out, which allows them to transport him back to UA. Thus, their mission is achieved halfway.

so pumpedddd

Jordy_EMS

If the geks don’t bring out a tissue box for S7 I think their tear ducts won’t survive lol, the binge is going to be epic!

Dub_quinn

Even if it’s hated for whatever reasons people make up, at least the gek community knows the truth, our MHA love is strong with our Deku Defenders, Ochaco crowds, Bakugo glazers, Shoto supporters, Froppy fans, and so on 😂 the community is truly goated

Dub_quinn

I wonder how that Uraraka speech sounds in dub tbh. I've found myself really interested in sub v dub because of Naruto and how iconic the dub is, but so many reaction channels are just not open to it. I read manga and I'm not elitest one way or the other, but some speeches really help you connect when they are said in your native tongue. That being said, 9.5/10 speech from Ochaco. It's the most impactful she has felt upon rewatching the show. Also, it's kind of a shame that reactors don't read manga because Horikoshi art is really phenomenal and he quite literally sacrificed his health to put his work out there

Steve

After drying my tears watching these two episodes, I'm good for word vomit regarding all the callbacks, parallels and ofc developments we got from ep 23. Iida being the one to catch Izuku and actually get through to him enough to have him hear them out. Him remembering the time when Izuku had to come to his rescue and shake him out of his emotions to focus on the big picture, and then repeating the words Izuku said to him during that same incident was really what got the tears to run down my cheeks. Iida has always been a good friend to Izuku. They're not best friends, ofc (I don't think Izuku has one since he gets along well with almost everyone), but their relationship is one of trust, mutual respect, and competitiveness. Iida treats Izuku as a rival in a healthy way. Their achievements push each other to be better because they learn something from each other (like Izuku learning leg techniques from Iida for his Shoot Style, and Iida learning what it means to be a hero from Izuku's lecture during the Stain incident). As much as I wanted Katsuki to be the one to force him to listen (because I love their dynamic), that's not really how their relationship works yet. Iida being concealed by Mina's acid veil was such a good decision. Because just when you think Katsuki is gonna give Izuku the wallop of his life for not listening and being stubborn (which prob would NOT have worked to bring him back), out comes the class president, someone who always strives to find the right words to say to get through to people (like in S1 when he informed the entire school that the alarm in UA was because reporters had broken in, and not because of a genuine emergency, which calmed the panicking crowd and avoided a stampede). Iida chooses his words carefully, unlike Katsuki, who blurts out what he thinks without regulation a lot of the time. It was entirely purposeful that he chose the line Izuku told him before aka "Meddling when you don't need to is the essence of being a hero." as the one he would say back to Izuku. Because Izuku is telling them that he doesn't need their help. He wants to protect them. He can't have anything bad happen to them because of his presence and existence. He's already experienced so much loss because of his status as All Might's successor and the wielder of One For All. He's telling them "Don't interfere. Because it's MY business, and ONLY I should have to carry this burden. You don't have to." But Class 1A WANTS to meddle. They WANT to help him. They don't want to be a burden to him by acting like damsels in distress needing his rescue and then dragging him down, which they could very well be considering they aren't anywhere close to comparable with All For One. But still, their intentions matter. They are heroes too. And what kind of heroes would knowingly allow their friend and classmate, a fellow hero (and a good one too), to be chased to the ends of the earth by an evil demon lord without trying to help him? Iida's (and the class') message to him is essentially, "You don't want help? Fine. We don't care. We're still going to try. Because we refuse to only receive your protection, especially because you're hurting yourself and not seeing it. But we see it. We see you're tired and in need of help. So we'll take it upon ourselves to knock that into your stubborn brain, even if you don't want us to." They're meddling. When they don't have to. And when Izuku, the person in question that they want to help, doesn't want them to. THEY are his heroes in the moment, there to remind him of his origin as a hero, his purpose as a hero (and not just One For All's wielder), and point out the flaws in his philosophy. Because he's not the only one who can meddle to save others. In trying to do the right thing, he fell into the most obvious and predictable pattern of self-isolation and taking everything on his shoulders so only he alone would have the suffer, and he forgot that he can be the one who needs saving too. Iida's words reminded him of that, and that's why it's so emotional when they shed tears together, and when he finally lets his guard down. Deep down, Izuku knows that he's tired, and that he'll get caught sooner or later. He's literally running on fumes. But even then, he puts his friends above himself as he always does and sacrifices more and more of himself to fulfill his duty. But now, he recognises that he is in no condition to win a fight against All For One and Shigaraki. After two hired guns, he still couldn' find him, and more keep coming. He realises that he alone can't do everything. So he accepts hearing them out, in hopes that they'll say something that might convince him that protecting them by leaving is the wrong choice. And who better to reach deep inside his soul than the one who knows him best.

Uraraka’s speech makes me cry, maybe even more on a rewatch

Dub_quinn

Bakugo apologizing is the character growth I never anticipated to see when we first saw him in S1, loved watching the geks follow him from being a bully to being a solid friend and hero

Dub_quinn

Cannon saying “our boy Bakugo” made me smile, and Carter saying we’re getting into turbo gear for S7… I love this intro haha

Dub_quinn

Honestly the behaviour of the civilians in this show makes it easier to understand the villains I can't lie. I would have drop kicked that one guy right in the face no hesitation

Mia Malvik

Bakugo I would die 4 u

Mia Malvik

oh just bawling my eyes out to these eps again no big deal

Mia Malvik

These episodes really do hit hard in the feels, I don’t really cry anymore when watching anime. Last time was when the final episode of AOT dropped but still the emotional impact was definitely felt. The animators, voice actors and sound team cooked. Urarakas speech was just perfect, she really shined so much. Bakugo apologising & then Iida and Deku moment. Just so good

~Mercedeez Lee~

I could have a yap fest about these episodes, but aside from season 7, this is the peak of the show for me. Iida being the one to catch up to Deku and that call back to season 2. Bakugo finally owning up to his mistakes and being honest about how and why he treated Deku badly, finally processing his feelings of inferiority and superiority to him. Then my best girl Uraraka giving one of the best speeches i’ve heard in anime, and the only one to speak up about how heroes are only human, and the fact that Deku has this huge burden to save the world essentially but he’s just a kid at the end of the day. Who looks after the heroes after they’ve looked after everyone else? Oh would you look at that i’m crying again 😭

Daniella

So one of the biggest call backs in this entire series that I adore Horikoshi for doing is during the ending monologue after Uraraka finishes. That star man who talked was from the first episode, and was the first character that Deku interacted with on screen when he saw that battle at the train station when Mount Lady debuted. He told him he was a fan boy, but motivated him to work towards his dream.... That made me tear up a bit more than Koda running out.

This episode really makes you understand where Shigaraki is coming from and why he resents the current society so much. A society so used to heroes doing and sacrificing everything for them, that they are unable to do and think anything for themselves.

Albin Limani

That is one of the main things that was cut from MVA. They delved into Spinner more and the discrimination that he and others faced.

Truth

humbleandkindness

The scene where Auntie Inko cries while Uraraka is talking hit the feels this time around - yes, All Might/Aizawa/UA have pledged to protect and stand by her son, and they do their absolute best shoutout to them, but this is probably the first time she’s ever seen someone else actually defend him. I can’t imagine what that must have felt like to know that someone is finally fighting for your kid the way you feel they deserve to be fought for. Speaking about group dynamics, the Todoroki family is without a doubt the most well written in MHA. But in my opinion, the single most well-written INDIVIDUAL character in this story is Bakugo,, his character arc, his motivations, and his interactions- everything is always so satisfying to watch because it doesn’t feel rushed, and he’s allowed to make many mistakes and change without sacrificing his personality/trying to fit a goody two shoes box that would never work. This narrative is about everyone taking initiative to do good in THEIR individual way, and he is THE example of that to me. What a show dude

Also Bakugo saying Izuku’s name for the first time!!

Random but I cant wait for u guys to watch Gachiakuta 🥹

Rei

oh man I still see people hating him, saying that its the least he could do

ge_minight

I LOVED the Bakugou's apology so much!! Especially each phase they went through and even voice change to a kid, idk it always gets me😭

ge_minight

bro...

Nuoflan

I'M AT WORK URGHHHH 🦅🦅🦅

Hafsa

Omg so trueee! Also, I feel like either Deku or Bakugou didn't think they could "save" the other one. Like Deku knowing that it should be Kirishima and not him, and Bakugou leaving it to Iida as well. I love them so muchhh😭

ge_minight

I'm SO excited for you guys to start season 7, it's somehow crazier than season 6 and I know you're just gonna love it 🫶🏻

Chosos Wife

I cant believe we've made it to these episodes. The writing, the voice acting, the callbacks, the music (You Say Run is my favorite, its so inspiring) just all the storytelling that comes together just makes me cry. Class A coming together to save Izuku in a way that only they could, just as he has saved them, fucking poetry. Excellent episodes. Excellent reaction.

Tina L

I just love Bakugo ❤️ my fav anime character of all time for sure

katsuki’s wife

these 2 eps were the tear jerkers

Jasmin☆

always living for the gradual but extremely important growth Bakugou has!

WHAT THE HELL IS A KILOMETER 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅

Jasmin☆

Omg its nearly time for my fave girl to show up 😭 🌟 🇺🇸 💪

Chosos Wife

a lot gets me in MHA but i think what had me tattered the most on my first watch was Ochaco's speech, man idk something about the topic and how real it is for a show about a fictional world + the amazing voice acting and emotional OST... just peak

Niko

I cant wait for Hagakure (invisible girl) and Aoyama's turn to have their own private, emotional and very heart warming talk with Izuku on season 7 😊

Lexzc

Lol I hate the trope of civilians getting mad at superheroes as if the superheroes were responsible for villains existing. I woulda became a quirk supremacist sadly. Cant stand these mob mofos lol

jblakk

Mha is really good at showing the ugliness of society and how they turn their backs on heroes once they’ve failed.

Gbemi

W URARAKA! Her speech was everything. No big heroics, just honesty and empathy that cut through all the fear and doubt around Deku. And when Kota ran up to him and we got that flashback I lost it lol. It’s crazy that what All Might was to Deku is what he became to Kota, Eri and Katsuma.

Tivy

CRYING

Jasmin☆

I agree! I was planning to comment that after they’re all caught up. They’re sooo good

Tivy

I believe that was an error exclusive to the dub - he does not address him as Izuku in either the sub or the manga through that material, which is good!

goblin.bones

Hopefully they get to watch World Heroes Mission and Your Next after they catch up.

Eren Jeager

Calling him “Izuku” shows just how much Bakugo’s growth has been built up over the series. From the beginning his relationship with Deku was defined by pride and the cruel nickname he made up to put him down. So when he finally admits his faults (in front of everyone no less) and calls him Izuku, it’s such a great moment. He skips both the insult and the formality of “Midoriya” and speaks to him as an equal, as someone he finally respects on a personal level. It’s a small detail but it says everything about how far they’ve come.

Tivy

Wow I didn't even think about there being discrimination against heteromorphs in this society. Unfortunately its not surprising that something like this would even take place, I mean just look at our own world. However, they should've seeded this more throughout the previous seasons (unless I missed it). I think Spinner would've been a great vehicle to expand and showcase more of this prior to this season. But it does make sense that we are seeing it more now, people tend to show their "true" selves more openly, due to all the chaos and uncertainty.

Enma

staying up late to watch this 🙂‍↕️

Jasmin☆

Exactly! You could tell he meant every word. For someone like Bakugo admitting it in front of everyone shows just how serious he was. There was nothing half-hearted about.

Tivy

I think us as watchers rlly feel some of the weight he has been feeling, because of how dark the last few eps have been and the appearance of our Izuku. So when he finally let himself cry everything out you actually can't help but cry next to him. Him realizing he's not alone and he's cared for + appreciated despite all the civilians throwing tomatoes. Him realizing he doesn't have to do it all alone. My heartttt

All might

The Dub actually has Bakugo calling Deku Izuku in the very first episode and I think that was a mistake on their part

All might

GOATED eps and GOATED reaction, you guys are truly the best also already hyped for the full speed catching up Im so ready 🔥

JulioLG

ngl after many rewatches I still hate these f-ers in ep 24

JulioLG

Looking forward to s7 ep 1+2, can’t believe we’re here already

Matt C

I just wanna say Bakugo >>>>>>> Deku

Nashi

Especially because he’s not rlly doing it for recognition and he rlly thought he was alone. I was crying right along side him fr

All might

& you can see it in deku’s face after bakugo says everything but the fact that he never resented bakugo just shows how good of a person he is

kai

Uraraka is so underrated

Nash

bakugo apologizing and owning up for everything thats led them up to this point is just peak character development

kai

Everybody say thank you Hori for blessing us with peak!

Sleepy

I don't think I've ever watched these two episodes without at least tearing up a bit. Bakugou apologizing and calling Deku Izuku and Uraraka's speech always get me

Jude

apologizing is hard enough but bakugo doing it in front of everyone, explaining exactly what he did wrong and why and making it clear he wasn’t expecting forgiveness or a reply honestly healed something in me. best apology ever

rue

It gets me choked up too, Cannon. Bakugo’s apology is one of my favourite moments in MHA. What started as a straightforward bully/victim dynamic was gradually written into something much more layered. Their relationship grew into this mix of guilt, pride, and unspoken respect. The apology felt like the payoff of all that history. It wasn’t just about saying sorry, but it showed how much Bakugo (and Deku) had grown and how the story values honesty and accountability between characters.

Tivy

most people are not good. When faced with the potential of great loss to yourself you turn to self defense above all. Do you honestly think you would feel comfortable knowing Shigaraki might be there?

cade-carter

Im sure some other folks have mentioned it already, but it always kills me when Bakugou calls Izuku instead of Deku for probably the first time?? 😭 and Deku is shocked himself! Bakugou's emotional development is really unmatched - the admissions he makes, recognizing and owning up to his own weaknesses, laying his heart out in front of their entire class in order to get through to Deku how they all feel, not even hesitating to run to him when he collapses... so emotional, every time. Its real and extreme growth from a childhood friend who knows he's acted like far less than that for a long time. Mha as a whole as well really addresses some broader societal issues that are so much more heavy than they seem on the surface for the show - the civilians are scared, angry, and hurting, but because they view heroes as more of an undefeatable force of good and place them on pedestals, the idea of those heroes losing creates confusing hurt that gets spun right back around onto the same heroes they praise. They almost dont see heroes as people, point blank - the same thing often happens to a degree with real world celebrities & people of interest. And the way that narrative is woven into the concept of the world not being black and white, but rather being made up of many shades of grey, as well as the tackling of discrimination against heteromorphs.... man. Horikoshi really put everything into what a lot of folks still blindly label a "kids' show" 😭

goblin.bones

Bakugo’s apology is so so so important to me. The way Izuku’s eyes widened out when Bakugo said his name for the first time in ages, not ever expecting to receive an apology. Probably not thinking he deserved one or needed one when it was the exact opposite. Seeing Bakugo finally reciprocate the admiration he’s had for him for years, and also realizing that all his friends are there for him when he thought he was carrying the world on just his two shoulders. So beautiful

All might

Both of these episodes made me bawl my eyes out the first three times I watched them😭😭😭 even now I can't help but tear uppp. Wish I could watch for the first time again

All might

Idc if the civilians have any bit of logic, their entitlement when it comes to the heroes protecting them is appalling. Do they still think they’re doing it for fame or money?? No they’re putting their lives on the line and all you can do is complain ughhh i actually can’t. It’s not even constructive criticism it’s just fear and selfishness talking

All might

seeing deku get all that kindness back at his absolute lowest had me bawling i love these eps so much

rue

The hypocrisy of the civilians makes me sooo mad. When Bakugo was kidnapped do we remember the public’s reaction??? Blaming UA for not taking care of the kids properly etc and now they struggled dearly to let one of those same kids to come in to rest.

All might

Shoto, Hawks and Endeavor are outside because the civilians don’t want them there either. They blame them for their current situation. They think heroes shouldn’t kill so they lost faith in Hawks. Endeavor’s obsessive ambition caused his eldest son to become a villain who has destroyed their peace and by extension they think Shoto will also turn on them

86 LilaS

They’re watching a bunch of episodes tomorrow so we’re gonna get it yessir

Swish Mix Productions

Shoutout to the geks, especially Carter for appreciating Deku the way he deserves from the start. My goats

These two episodes really was nothing but pure feels 😭😭🥺

I love Deku finally getting his flowers!

Tears. Every time. My tears to be clear

Seth Aasland

Bakugo has one of the best character development arcs in anime. It's been gradual since the start of the show and Horikoshi really took his time to build it out and let Bakugo's character breathe and grow naturally. It's the reason his moment apologising to Deku hit so hard and why calling him Izuku for the first time was so subtle yet powerful. He didn't use the nickname 'Deku' that he came up with to bully him, and he didn't even use his last name (Midoriya) which would be normal for Japanese people even after becoming close with someone. He used his first name and addressed him as a close friend and an equal for the first time. CINEMA!

Alex

I'll never understand it, I feel like the Uraraka and Deku hate is so forced, you have to go out of your way and make up things to hate about them.

JevCor

KOTA IS BACK

Neptunestar79

The way he feels about All Might is how those two feel about him, its so cute.

JevCor

I LOVE URARAKA SO MUCH

Neptunestar79

Biggest flex was that bakugo was always my favorite! Saw the potential and it didn’t disappoint🥺🔥

Tacara Wright

PEAK MHA i cried on the ochako ep

Yam

honestly!!!

All might

The guy with the stars is seen when you first see Deku watching Mt.Lady and Kamui Woods in the very first ep. He tells him that he’s a fanboy and asks him if he wants to be a hero. Izuku then saying he wants to be one more than anything

Neptunestar79

They are.

JevCor

Crazy people bro

JevCor

What a jacked up society where the adults in the room all look to the kids to sacrifice themselves in order to save this society. Freaking apocalyptic. They didn't even give them a full 3 years of school to prep. 1 year. Deku learned his new abilities last week and now he has to fight 2 versions of the main villain, one of which spent time in a hyperbolic time chamber

Steve

These are such special episodes man.

JevCor

Still shedding tears over these episodes. 🥺 I have a huge Class A poster in a frame hanging up in my room; love them so much. Also, that call back to them rescuing Bakugo made me bawl the first time. Just like how Deku thought of having Kirishima call out to Bakugou, Bakugou made sure it was Iida that called out to Deku. 😭😭😭 They're so good!!

botanbutton

Uraraka's va DELIVERED

ginabella

Anytime Kota or Eri are on screen it makes me wanna cry. Deku really is their hero

Cat

Uraraka hate makes NO sense 🐐🐐🐐

stako

Deku's face when Bakugo calls him Izuku, kills me 😭 Makes the apology so much more impactful too

Cat

Bakugo calling him Izuku instead of Deku is glorious

ginabella

I will always have beef with the civilians in this show. Who thinks it's ok to turn away a beat up 16 year old kid from his own school?? Poor guy just needs a bath, some food and a nap. Not asking for much

Cat

This is like my 5th rewatch and i still sob at these 2 episodes every time

Ciara P

Already knowing what happens does not change the feeling of watching this at all. From the moment Iida caught up too Deku my heart was racing so damn fast. Even though I’ve seen these scenes a million times, they always get me choked up.

Neptunestar79

S6 E25 - S7 1&2 please they blend together so well

Sam Davis

just to remind ya'll in regards to what kirishima said - during his mini arc during the overhaul arc, we learned that he heard the story of midoriya saving bakugo from the sludge villain because it was on the news, he wasn't personally there. Also, the news segment didn't reveal midoriya's name, that's why he says "that was you, wasn't it?"

Noelle

Some people really tried to tell us this show wasn’t good 😂

McKay Carter

That guy was the guy talking to Izuku at the beginning of S1 E1 calling him a fanboy

Sam Davis

always pulls on my heartstrings...

I thought Cannon was wearing safety goggles lmao

Connor O'Hara

People who call Deku a weak character for being a “crybaby”… 😒

Abigail Jerry

Kirishima wasn't there when the sludge villain thing happened, it just made the news so people knew what had happened but only basically remembered All Might & Bakugo. Izuku was just a random quirkless kid who ran in to try to save his friend

Sam Davis

Lebron.

Jimmy

Meddling when you dont need to, is the essence of being a hero

man i freaking love bakugo

Throwing it out there, after we are caught up with MHA and go to weekly eps for the new season maybe you guys would look at Frieren 🙏🏼 Season 2 starts early next year

LETS GOOOO MAN IM GONNA TEAR UP

Neptunestar79

OMG HOLY PEAKKK

keyla

Finally can say that this storyline of their relationship is why MHA is my favourite anime of all time, as someone who was bullied in school discovering My Hero when I did was so meaningful. First Deku standing up to his bully and growing into a more confident better version of himself, and then seeing Bakugo come full circle and not only apologize to his victim but also grow to respect and deeply admire him brings me to tears every time

Tyler

YEEEEEEEEAH LETS GOOOOOO

JulioLG

Its clear to me that you understand the heart of this story, and that's so awesome man

JulioLG

I've 100% been waiting for these eps since yall started the show 😭 A+ display of character emotional development
