2025-08-28 22:16:46 +0000 UTCI think the worst part about how this arc was animated was that it just ruins a huge chunk of the storytelling. MHA is split into 3 acts with the first ending after AM retired and AFO was imprisoned. Act 2 follows the start of the journeys of both their disciples having to take over the legacy that was left behind. In the manga, the arc is narrated by Spinner, and the arc starts with him doubting Shigaraki since he joined because of Stain, and he's been feeling weird ever since it became clear that Shigaraki had no interest in Stain's ideas. This kinda frames the arc as us watching Shigaraki become a leader Spinner wants to follow. Idk why the anime decides to just spoil MVA before it even happens. Plus before this, the villains were rather flat but this arc fleshes them out so well. That’s why MVA is so important, cuz it directly parallels our protagonist and antagonist and builds up to act 3 in such a wonderful way. I implore everyone regardless of if you disliked/liked this arc to please read the manga cuz it tells it in such a better way 😭🙏🏼

2025-08-28 09:38:17 +0000 UTCThe power ups that several of the League of Villains members are getting in this arc really comes down to the crisis they're in. Not only have they been getting absolutely NO rest whatsoever while fighting Machia (it's an easier name that a lot of people use to refer to Gigantomachia) for a month straight, they're all put in positions that threaten their lives, their sanity and their bonds with each other. The League of Villains are still human, and although they aren't heroes, the ability to pull through in a moment of crisis (death, sleep deprivation, stress, mental fatigue, etc.) makes them no different from heroes who prevail in the face of adversity. It's like when All Might pulled out the last remainders of the One For All embers he still had in him in S3 during the fight with All For One. He forced himself past his limit by remembering his origin (the words his master told him to recall whenever he finds himself unable to go on). And what the League of Villains is doing is exactly that. We know by now that quirks can improve with time and practice, and sometimes in moments that force the user to adapt to survive. Obviously, not EVERYONE can do that. It requires a crazy amount of determination and a disposition that can create change (like All Might & Izuku) to invite something as significant as an upgrade in your quirk. But as we've seen, Shigaraki's ceaseless hatred at the world, Toga's desire to be more like the people she loves (to a maniacal degree), and Twice's trauma that held him back before are all dispositions that allow them to push for change, not just within themselves but in the world (more on this in S6 & 7). Their power ups are just the beginning of a monumental shift in superhuman society (or so the story leads to believe at this point), the outcome of which we're witnessing and will witness in future seasons.

The depth and nuance it gave some of these characters - especially Twice and Toga - really elevated this show to me. It also brings a definite tonal shift in MHA. From here on out the shows themes and even just the action/plot/consequences become more severe and intense. Excited for the coming arcs

2025-08-28 02:10:29 +0000 UTCSo crazy we’re this close to the end of the season, I feel like we just started,, re-destro has always been a character that low-key annoyed me lol, specifically for what he was just saying to Not-Shigaraki (the clone). Both of them want to completely tear down what exists and make something different, each for their own individual reasons, but only his reasons were noble/made it okay? Mental gymnastics at its finest. He’s interesting though, I’ll give him that. And yes, Twice really is someone you want to root for! Horikoshi’s best work is in the insights he gives to each of his characters, and I feel like the League of Villains, the Todoroki family, and the relationship between Bakugo and Midoriya exhibit that really well. I forgot how crazy these episodes are lol, I’m so excited to see everything going forward, especially because Season 6 covers the part of My Hero that I finally caught up to the manga for when it first came out, so seeing it in the anime was a whole different experience and I think of it as “my” season lol.

Her episode definitely made me love her more. Also Twice is one of my top favorite characters. He's so well written and seeing his whole backstory is so sad. So he starts creating copies just to feel some kind of company. Then the clones rebel all thinking they are the real one and he has to watch hundreds of himself kill himself over and over, to the point that in the end he does not even know if he is the real one, in the process developing a dissociative identity disorder. Then avoiding getting hurt at any cost, because he is scared he will vanish. The League taking him in is the first time anyone has ever accepted him, so he sees them as his real family, especially Toga who has being closer to him than anyone. All that to finally having his arms broken trying to save someone else(which is what a hero does, not a villain), finally learning that he is indeed the real one and unleashing maybe the strongest individual quirk anyone has shown yet is so satisfying. Sad Man's Parade, what a name.

Yes it's creepy but it's her quirk she can't help it if it's linked to her personality, like she said in the episode just as you like someone you're affectionate with them, that's how she shows affection with people she likes/loves. MHA has shown multiple times that people's quirks are directly linked to their personalities, it just depends on the type of quirk you have, sadly Toga got the short end of the stick and was pushed out of society because of it :/

They explained to me that Toga’s experience resonated with theirs of being born into a life where what felt “normal” to them would not be ever be accepted by the world around them… They, like Toga found a family in the other outcasts that were also forced out of their own rural homes and communities for being true to themselves. When they told that to me I saw Toga in an entirely different light. Yes, it may seem weird to you. Yes, you may not understand. But also… you don’t need to understand to know they are a human being… They were and are being hurt, ostracized, and marginalized by the world… and they (especially when a child) deserve and deserved to be protected and loved too.

I think it's heavily debatable whether Kirishima or Deku go through the first on screen quirk awakening.
