.The. .Glory. 1x9

Our hate for Yeon-Jin grows…

Comments

I just love The Glory and it’s way to show not everything is black and white. Not even to discredit the geks’ opinion or anything because I do understand the discussion of wanting people to move on or that ‘we’ aren’t the people to be deciding who gets punished. But I feel like that raises the question of “who does?” cause it certainly isn’t the people currently in power (police or the law system) and this show demonstrates that amazingly well. Not that it’s unimportant to follow laws, of course we have to. At the same time though, what happens when the laws and the people in power let you down time and time again. I feel like that is enough for Dongeun to not be able to move on, in addition to the literal torture she endured and with the knowledge that these people STILL do this others. If that can be understood then we can say Yeojeong is pretty similar in that he was tortured through the letters and the literal fact his dad is gone from such unnatural means that he physically witnessed. And this is on top of the fact that his family practically dedicated themselves to health and saving lives. Then his dad is killed. How? By his patient. In the hospital. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself after that either💀💀 Yes, finding love and moving on might be ideal but that’s just not how things go a lot of the time. Not completely the same but I feel like that why we even have any rates of suicide. Sometimes people still do it even when they know and have people that care about them. It’s not that there isn’t any good in the world, it’s that sometimes the bad just outways the good. Or in this case, Dongeun and Yeojeong want to get rid of the bad so that they can finally wholeheartedly accept the good. This show always makes me think of Villain by Stella Jang😂I’d reference certain scenes but they haven’t come up yet🤐

Janice W

Yeah, this is how i learned how to pronounce the names correctly. I tend to listen more to the audio than just reading subtitles. I feel like that’s how you learn to speak the language properly as well.

Mikkeai8908

I hope they’ll understand by the end but I can’t help feeling a little bit disappointed right now😔

Vlad Lena

I want to print out and frame your comment — that how much it amazingly accurate!

Vlad Lena

Same

Vlad Lena

I had the same confusion

Vlad Lena

45:32 – And this time it’s really crazy! That’s why you should stop questioning Dong-Eun and Yeo-Jeong’s actions! They’re doing the right thing — something that helps not only them, but other victims too! 51:06 — About how she knew about her husband’s picture: Yeon-Jin recognized everyone in the photo except one person, so she took his photo and investigated him. 55:12 — If someone close asks you a question like that, you should try to understand why they want to do that instead of immediately judging and changing your opinion about them.
And even if YOU personally don’t want to take someone’s life into your own hands as part of revenge, that doesn’t mean everyone else should think the same way (And the truth is, you never really know how you’ll act or what decisions you’ll make until it happens to you or your dearest ones). The justice system has messed up thousands of times all over the world — and that’s a well-known fact. Sometimes you need to take control of the situation yourself! I’m sad that we have such diametrically different opinions on this matter 😩

Vlad Lena

43:13 — That’s not crazy! She is a GOAT! She wants her son to find peace! It’s not like he planned on killing innocent people for fun. So what’s the problem? I personally love the scene between Yeo-Jeong and his mum, and how she gave her blessing to his maybe-illegal action! When I first watched the show, I also didn’t expect it, but moments like this make The Glory so good! It shows that people can find peace through revenge, not only forgiveness. And they have the right to make that choice! His mother didn’t think in a standard, predictable way, plus she saw what her husband’s kindness and fairness led to. So I admired how she went against the grain and approved of whatever he would do, because she knows her son!

Vlad Lena

27:52 — You are right about the bag from Siesta, Cannon! Good job for clocking it so quickly! Your reaction to their date was amazing! I’m glad you’re still enjoying them! And Cannon NEEDS to watch a rom-com K-drama!!!
The 30:07 moment killed me in a good way 😂😂😂😂 30:40 – “He can be Su-ho’s older brother” — that was an interesting take! 34:00 — “She is my new Joffrey” — that’s a serious statement 😂

Vlad Lena

26:41 — Broken people have the right to revenge and not just to want a happy life together. You really started to lose me here, sorry 🙈 27:15 — “How is he an assassin? He is such a nice guy” — THEY CAN BE BOTH, I BEG YOU GUYS 😭😭😭😭

Vlad Lena

26:34 — What was that look, Carter? I can’t figure it out. Anyone understand?

Vlad Lena

35:30 — “See, I just want him to be this sweet little boy” — Yes, but he’s not, Cannon! He can be both at the same time. People are complex. I don’t understand why you want him to be simply good. That’s not interesting! And just one thing — he isn’t a killer, calm down. Killing someone is not the same as fantasizing about it! And it’s always important to take into account the circumstances in each specific case!

Vlad Lena

Then the boys kept complaining about how many coats Myeong-O can wear — I was dying laughing 😂😂😂 “I’m the one who is disappointed to see you here” — this line always makes me angry! Park Yeon-Jin is a total villain! 13:04 – “Let him have his collection, okay?” – yes, McKay, tell them!!!! Jack: “Carter’s goat” about Sa-ra.
Carter (highly offended): “EXCUSE ME?”
That was hilarious 😂😂 15:34 — “If you don’t think he is drippy, you are crazy” – McKay becoming a fan of Jae-Jun because of his clothes is so funny to me! “If your punishment comes from me, it’ll be a lot harsher” — Dong-Eun is a real gangsta and I love it! 22:27 – “Don’t fall for the rage bait” — Carter, you should know Dong-Eun’s character well at this point in the show! That lame trick won’t work on her! Comparing Yeon-Jin and Joffrey’s hate — I didn’t expect that at all 🙈

Vlad Lena

"and one piece..... nooo....." lmao gotta love it

Colin Boehling

On the reasons why 007’s solution is to off her husband: this is just what I’ve learned off hand over the years so may not be entirely factual, but I think in most domestic abuse cases it can be hard for the victim to report it for reasons that include fear of retaliation or in cases like this fear of losing child custody. On top of that, in South Korea perpetrators of domestic abuse serve I believe a max sentence of 2 years. Then add on top of that that I think the Korean government is legally required to share the home address of citizens when a family member requests it, it becomes easier than you’d expect for convicts to track down missing spouses after serving a brief prison sentence. So it can actually be very dangerous for abuse victims to go to the police.

KeliTTries

Floo, stop it! Don't put that out in the universe!

I think its important to mention that walking into someone's house with your shoes on in Korean is one of the highest forms of disrespect.

Kpopiana

Today 🙇‍♀️

Floo

Yeon-jin is stressing carter OUTTTT

Sho

I love both of those! They are really good. They might like them :)

Betsy

I love the freak out over the small physical interactions between the love interests, it's so real, so relatable. They go like 10 episodes in these shows rimming ya and then finally do somethingggg and it'll be like a hand hold lol, or hand grab, or the smallest most innocent pecking of the lips, or the guy catching the girl falling and it explodes our universes. lol. There's this show called Coffee Prince, it streams on Kocowa+ and it is one of my favorites from my adolescent years. I wonder if yall would like it. It's def a slow burn but worth it. Or Goblin - another show.

Nebula Core

I would be absolutely elated if they got into romance drama lol

Thank you! I hope nothing happens to her..

jrnoodles

McKay even gets it the actor that plays Yeon-Jin straight baddie

Light D Yagami

the romance in that show is sooo good

Venus

You gotta admit she bad

Light D Yagami

All my homies hate Yeon-Jin... another crazy ending as well, really hope Yeon-Jin doesn't kill the mom somehow..

T.Yaseen

They should react yo Sweet Home 💯 bit just the 1st season lol

Ari

Omg, that was THE k-drama of 2018

T

exactlyyyy idk why but i want them to watch Extraordinary Attorney Woo >.<

Hafsa

I'm thinking, if you guys are having such a reaction just from watching Moon’s romance, then what will happen if you watch a proper romcom K-drama?😃

Merry

I think you guys would be super intrigued by SKY Castle!

This is not suggested enough but you should react to Moving. Another great kdrama and different from the The Glory and Weak Hero!

Shookjwinnie

It’s sweet that they want Dong-eun and Yeo-jeong to take the high road- it’s clear they are empathetic men. Just remember that South Korea has different laws, different culture, and society… they are watching for the first time from their POV. They’ve been extremely lucky to never experience that type of trauma, I think they will come to understand later on why these characters made the choices they did

Laur

The first of this show does such a good job with the setup that the remaining episodes are straight gas! Can’t wait to see their minds blown 🤯

Laur

Just do a big drop and drop the final episodes all at once... :D PLEASEEEEE

Alayna

Your guys talking about vigilantism was interesting. Well, the point will be about our trust level about society(like Jack brought it up) and it will be different by person to person. Carter's view was very legitimate. I also believe vigilantism is another crime, but I also understand their stand. So I just wish they get not so harsh punishments when it happens in real life, like a dad killed his daughter's killer, something like that.

Hannah Lee

About domestic violence. I also don't know why the school teachers didn't report this. Anyone can report. It might be those two were too afraid of the husband. Cause about the violence, if victims doesn't want to bring it up, it doesn't become actual a "case" in Korean law(as far as I know). Child abuse is different issue, but most likely the daughter was too worried about mom left alone with dad.

Hannah Lee

Goated mom

Sasha (Sanji is the real Flame Emperor)

Guys, relax about Yeojeong cuz Dong-eun already said she’s not getting her hands bloody

vicc

The show will have diabolical cliffhangers from now on lol good luck y'all

Eva

Yeon-jin is a baddie 100%

Sasha (Sanji is the real Flame Emperor)

Well said. I think his scenes have been misinterpreted due to the shock factor. When he asks his mother (who’s also a doctor and has been through the same trauma) if she thinks it’s okay for him to use his scalpel as a “headsman’s sword,” he’s not literally saying he’s going to kill someone. He’s asking if, as a doctor sworn to help people, it’s justifiable to use his skills to harm others in the name of justice. Since she understands him, she approves. Much of his dialogue is metaphorical, so it’s easy to take it literally. But like you said, he’s not psycho. He’s tormented and living with PTSD which he can’t control.

Tivy

27:05 Sweet Home mentioned

Sasha (Sanji is the real Flame Emperor)

When Sa-ra said “normal people”, she was referring to those outside the media who don’t rely on public opinion like Yeo-jin

vicc

another great react 😁😁😁

vicc

The doctor has been tormented with evil gorey letters from his father's killer telling him every detail about how he murdered his father. Don't you think that would give him ptsd? That ptsd has given him intrusive thoughts. It's not his fault. Intrusive thoughts, despite being very disturbing, they are involuntary and can't be controlled. Also someone having intrusive thoughts does NOT want to act on them. But even if he did in his case specifically, it's normal. I would wanna kill that guy too. I guess it's natural to be creeped out by seeing someone's intrusive thoughts, but there's so many misconceptions about them and they dont make someone psycho or not a nice guy. He's just traumatized.

Eva

I’ve never watched Naruto but I’ve been hearing about Carter’s hate towards it for a while lol. I’ve never seen him hate anything, so I’m just curious why he does?

Tivy

I love the fact that Carter hates Naruto. I'm just like 8 episodes into Shippuden so I shall see where the hatred comes from😂

Sasha (Sanji is the real Flame Emperor)

All the Yeo-jeong hate seems so crazy to me given everything he and his mother has been through over the years. It seems a bit misplaced. He's not some cold blooded psycho killer. He just wants to help the woman he loves seek revenge because he can understand her pain, suffering, and trauma weighing heavy in her heart. Because he's felt similar things, himself. They both are victims of tragedy, emotional abuse, and constant torment from their perpetrators. And he doesn't want to actually physically kill anyone but make all the people that brought Dong-eun pain and misery feel that same kind of pain, misery, and helplessness that she felt back then. Yeo-jeong wants them to reap what they sow. He believes they should be held accountable for their actions. He's still that fun loving goofy guy but has to settle some things first so, he can start to move on from everything and Dong-eun can too by his side.

Betsy

And if he only wants to kill one person, it's not like it's completely unjustified. In the theme of the show. Real life I do not condone murder, but in a drama... Bring it on to those that deserve it.

Abby Russell

BTS👀 💜Army

Anya

And how do you know that he wants to kill people? He never explicitly said it

Mimi

Yeo Jeong is messed up…but he’s not coming for innocent people so…USE YOUR DR. SKILLS KING

Mimi

The actress who plays Yeon-Jin, Lim Ji-Yeon, plays the protagonist in a popular 2025 drama called 'The Tale of Lady Ok' :)

Jo

I made this comment last upload, but it’s fitting to put it here since there was a lot of discussion on Yeo-jeong’s character: Yeo-jeong doesn’t actually have some deep rooted psychotic or murderous urge, even if his scenes might seem that way. The fantasy about killing his father’s murderer and revenge conversations are dark, but that’s not because there’s hidden evil in him. It’s because he’s been forced to relive his father’s brutal death for years through graphic letters. When murder is constantly pushed to the front of your mind, it’s bound to affect you. So when he calls himself Dong-eun’s “headsmen,” it’s not him admitting to any murderous urges. It’s more about his desire to help and bring her justice as he understands what relentless pain does to a person. Also, a lot of his dialogue is metaphorical, so maybe don’t take it quite so literally lol. His golden retriever warmth is still there, this is just the first time we’re seeing the weight of his grief. Realistically, a guy would never take part in your revenge plan just because he has a crush on you, that’s insane. He’s doing it because he understands. It’s hard to judge the mindset of someone who’s lived through something we never have. There is a lot more to be said on this, but there are a lot of great perspectives said in this comment section I think you guys would get a lot from.

Tivy

Guys, you're missing the fact the police did nothing to help her. Furthermore, moon has yet to kill someone. She made it very clear she wouldn't get her own hands dirty. Shes just showing them who they really are when they potentially or hypothetically kill each other. At least she hopes they do it.

Jaz

I already can't wait for next week's set of episodes. 😩 RELEASE THEM 👺 🔪

misa

Abusive husband was the only person on photos Yeonjun didn't recognize. Finding out who he is and then about his wife, she also had information on vehicles Moon owns. Not that difficult to find Mrs.Kang in the car Moon owns. Whatever Doctor said to his mom is not as weird in Korean, it is more like can I use my skills to do something that doesn't save lives but might harm someone. He didn't mean he wants to kill someone. As a doctor, you swear not to harm anyone, but he helps with revenge, which might harm mentally or physically. Mom sees how him having a relationship with this girl kinda heals him somehow after what happened, so she lets him help. This friend group is connected with a lot of bullshit from childhood and have to continue to hang up to keep track on information others spill. Yeonjun and Jaejun have relationship, Hyejeong likes Jaejun and likes keeping rich friends to find herself a husband among their friends (she was dating a guy, who was Doyeong's friend if you remember), Sara is connected by drugs to Myeongho and she was friends with Yeonjun all this time.

S Moonchild

They are the best, an instant serotonin booster! The guys would definitely love the vibes maybe even some of the tropes they use hehe Business Proposal is really good and so is Love Next Door. As a Jung Hae-in fan, it was even better.

Betsy

I have a feeling I'm going to be disappointed by the reaction to one of imo the best lines in the last episode. It's okay, we all have our interests and what we like and don't like, but I'm hoping I'm wrong. it's such a good scene.

Abby Russell

Hyeon-nam's love for her daughter is beautiful to see. I love seeing their relationship. They are both victims of domestic abuse but they try to encourage each other to stay strong and not lose hope. Sun-a is such a good caring daughter who loves her Mom dearly. I'm thankful they can be each other's rock. When you're life feels like it's crumbling to pieces with no end in sight, it's nice to have that constant support system to fall back on to keep you grounded even in the midst of chaos and turmoil...

Betsy

I can’t wait for you guys to watch a rom com kdrama. You’re gonna love them!! Business Proposal’s a great one to start. One of my personal faves is Love Next Door. There’s so many lovable characters out there in kdramas, man. Love it when you guys get all excited about the romantic moments haha

raeven b.

What? A smiling titan? Gotta look that up now😂

Anya

It's not based off one singular event but inspired by multiple real life bullying incidents. The main one being the "2006 Cheongju Curling Iron Case" Purely fictional, just heavily inspired.

Anya

Gyeong-ran (the assistant) was the girl they bullied after dong-eun.

Jaz

I absolutely love his switch ups from super cute and dorky to dark and badass with his one liners. He is truly one of my favorite Kdrama characters. Him and Myeol Mang probably.

Abby Russell

Jaz

The cat's out of the bag. Now Mr. Ha knows that Jae-jun is Ye-sol's biological father. The tension buildup between him and Jae-jun is satisfying to watch unfold. It's like a game of cat and mouse... Mr. Ha took the bait.

Betsy

Saying Yeon-jin kind of looks like a titan really took me out oh my gosh hahaha Maybe the Smiling Titan perhaps 🤣

Betsy

The murder or no murder discussions are always interesting. I feel like we all truly don't know what our reactions would be if we were pushed too far. Yeojeong, golden retriever boy got his world flipped upside down, in addition to the murderer constantly retraumatizing him. Rather than his character becoming different, we were clueless cause we made the same assumptions Dongeun did based off the few interactions they had. I mean the guy also tried therapy and it didn't work, his only relief was basically Dongeun which is prob why he acts so golden retriever like around her. He feels more in tune with who he was and is at his core. So seeing the person who kinda pulls him back, going through the same thing he did, most likely gives him some respite by helping her. It would be ideal if he could move on but bro probably just can't fr. He's kinda similar to Mrs. Kang in a way, where even if that horrible stuff happened, in his core he has that golden retriever side and can be silly.

Janice W

Im sorry, but what you guys are missing isn't that he's just asking some random person if they're okay with him murdering. He's a victim of something so very horrible happening and asking someone who went through the same horrible thing what they think. it's not comparable. If you were to ask someone who had a family member brutally murdered if they ever thought about revenge or the person dying...I would bet most would say yes. Also, it's a revenge drama, not a cute romance. Trust me, im all about peace and forgiveness and law and order but this show is SO poetic. It makes it sad that some of this stuff really did happen, but I can watch it and take it as the fiction that it is.

Abby Russell

South Korea has a really bad bullying culture. work place bullying, bullying at school, DV, the authorities kind of turn a blind eye. Alot of corruption as well, so the honest ones prolly get ignored or transferred. THE GLORY is one of my top shows as well. every episode kept you on edge, and the moment you feel like “okay we’ll have some dull moments” it goes tenfolds crazy. It’s been great re watching it with you lot. You can check out TAXI DRIVER (kdrama) also an amazing show, has a revenge theme as well. It’s different cases each episode with a bit of backstory for the main cast. MY NAME (kdrama) also a good one. Also you guys have been reacting to BTS (love the boys 💜) you can react to baepsae (silver spoon), spinebreaker, N.O, No More Dream just a few to name, they speak on the social injustice, and this whole social class thing that dominates in SK.

Chris

Sweet Home mat👀 I see you Lee Do-hyun!

Anya

5:30 — Yeah he’s stealing all those coats because he’s feeling untouchable now that he’s got the upper hand on them. Remember earlier in the season when Jae-joon’s closet got wrecked right before Meong-oh disappeared? 👀

Tivy

100%

Abby Russell

yeo-jeong's dark side is exactly what makes him such a compelling character. I love the sweet, puppy-like characters as much as the next one, but it wouldn't have made sense for a show as plot-heavy as the glory for him to be motivated to help dong-eun only because he likes her. obviously it's partially because of his deep affection for her, but I do believe that the one glimpse we got into his mind of what he wants to do to his father's murderer was far from the first, and helping dong-eun in getting her own revenge could be an outlet for him without actively indulging in his own violent impulses. it is still very refreshing to see him rather clumsy and bright around dong-eun, tho, and that contradiction adds to his charm as a character

louvsiren

Man I want Yeo-jeong's house. It looks sleek, cozy, but also very furturistic in a way. Jack's right, it's definitely got that fengshui element to it. It's nice that Dong-eun has a place of refuge as well as safety and security to go to anytime she wants. After all the endless hardships she's faced, she deserves it. She finally has a place to call home since she's never had a decent one to begin with due to her rat of a Mother😭

Betsy

i just need y’all to binge the rest of the eps 😫

Jasmin☆

I love seeing Mckay's glaze for Yeon-jin. It's so funny. But yeah I guess she is pretty epic as far as villains go. She's that character you hate but also am impressed by because of her manipulative and vain calcuating character. She's getting antsy now that all of past actions of cruelty is coming back to haunt and hit her tenfold... I'm enjoying seeing her get her karma that is overdue.

Betsy

50:05 THE DISGUST IN JACKSON'S FACE LMAAAAAO

Kim555

Just a pronunciation tip, with Korean names it’s better to listen to how the actors say it than to read it literally. Romanization isn’t quite so exact with English sounds. For example, “eo” sounds like “uh”, so Beom-seok is “Buhm-suhk,” not “bee-om-sock.” Same with Choi (often said like “Chwe”) or Jung (closer to “Juhng”). For an example from The Glory, Yeon-jin isn’t “Yee-on-jin,” it’s more like “Yuhn-jin.” Once you tune your ear to the way they say it on screen the names make way more sense. Keep it up Cannon lol

Tivy

"Bullies don’t even know the meaning of friendship, so how can they be loyal to each other? They are not truly anyone’s own.😐

Merry

The next episode is soooo peak I'm gonna feel chained till the day after tomorrow

Kim555

Moon, you shouldn’t have said you had a fever. Doctors can tell by looking at your face whether a person is telling the truth or not you could have just said you had a headache😃

Merry

I'm with McKay, I would about die with that many layers on since I'm extremely warm natured... But Somehow, Myeong-o can make it work where it looks actually drippy. Plus, I know in Korea they like to layer their clothes a lot but of course not to that extent. It's a bit much haha And that was funny when Cannon said, "Who puts their tops on before their bottoms?" Haha

Betsy

I don’t get why you guys don’t like Yeo-jeong dark side. I feel like it’s normal to dream about killing the guy that murdered your father and not to mention torment him about it even years later. Also why he was willing to help Dong eun so easily cuz he related to her in wanting revenge

Samira aa

i'm not saying I would go and want to kill but I don't know what my mental state would be if my parent was murdered and I was tormented by their killer for YEARS. My boy can't go back to being the cute golden retriever because that sweetness was taken and tainted. I'm so hoping you guys come around to his pursuit of revenge bc he has some of the coolest lines.

Abby Russell

my all time fav reaction from u guys is The Glory I think, I freaking love it

I feel like these guys will really enjoy "When Life Gives You Tangerines"😊

What i want is just Moon to get revenge in a brutal way... i dont want this to be like a story where the message is forgivness and good morals, which i dont think it is btw. but yeah i want yeonjin and the gang to go down in flames. that would be my happy ending

Anton Sakshaug (Jancked)

ya'll should watch a romance k drama lol

Hafsa

Yes business proposal it would be a very different genre from everything they’ve dome

julian

the way you guys get so excited for the romance scenes just tells me you guys need to watch a romance kdrama next, and i nominate Business Proposal, it’s such a good rom com, i feel you guys would laugh a lot

Can't wait for next ep

Floo

“Please don’t fall for the rage bait”…ummmmm, sir, when did Dongeun ever fall for any rage bait this whole time? Even when she was being bullied? You’re underestimating her intelligence, her ability to control her emotions and mentality when you make comments like that.

Mikkeai8908

Maybe I put too much thought about it but we can interpret it like how each one of them entered in her life. In so many culture, when you enter a home you take off your shoes. Here we can see that Yeonjin never respected her life and personal space and barged onto Moon house, life and mind. On the contrary, the husband took off his shoes and was more respectful towards her and their relationship was formed from curiosity, trepidation and respect.

Krystal

Dong-eun bought the tent because she needed a hideout of her own — a completely isolated space where no one’s gaze could reach her. In a way, it’s kind of sad.🥲

YSM

him taking off his shoes meant a lot to her because no one ever respected her enough to take their shoes off before coming into her home. if you remember in the beginning yeonjin and the group always entered her house in shoes
