They should've done OG in the beginning then around the middle one pace and then towards the end OG again and moving forward, especially with the next arc. The next ep is a good ep so I think watching it in OG is fine, but after that Jack can decide whether to keep it going for the rest of the arc or switched to one pace and back to OG around 371. These episodes weren't the best best, but definitely not terrible. Watching these episodes are obviously gonna feel different because were switching from one pace to OG. I think it will start to pick up the next few eps, so not too much on Jack. Every reactor I know has watched in OG and most liked this arc. I understand parts of it has bad pacing (I also agree this part being badly paced), but let's not be too dramatic about it. If the boys want to switch back to one pace, thats also fine too

I really enjoy One Piece and while the fights aren't the most action/animation heavy for a most of the show, I still enjoy most of the fights because of how they play out. I see it as less of a stakes issue and more of how interestingly they "solve" that particular fight. If you make everything into an issue of stakes a lot of shows and movies lose any impact imo.

On the bright side we only have a few more of slow episodes comparatively I guess XD

Ofc it’s not true for every arc, but in general this show brings so much joy and adventure, which is so needed these days when real world is burning and every freaking show is about bullying death war and other horrifying things. I tried watching takopi but replaced it with fucking “reborn as a vending machine” cause I can’t handle all that negativity anymore

I didn’t really care about fights in anime at all bc I watch for the story, but the current arc and the one before that are so action packed and so amazingly directed that fighting episodes are now the ones I rewatch the most (especially luffy’s)

You can't just snap your fingers and deliver meaningful moments, so give Oda some respect and instead of wondering why you're bored instead ask what is this struggle against a seemingly insurmountable opponent doing for the story. Every piece in One Piece fits somewhere!

If u guys wanna do OG id recommend pick up on 275(stop one pace on ep 19). Obviously just a recommendation and whatever you guys do ill be here with my snacks and drink to enjoy OP always:D Ive watched the show multiple times so i loved the honesty in the outro cause at this point i felt the same...Just keep pushing geks everyone is antsy for a reason!

It makes no sense to One Pace the beginning of this arc with all the mystery and comedy, and then turn to OG only for the dragged fights. Please for your own sake (and ours) use One Pace until the end of this fight, the pacing is the main reason people hate on this arc.

I rewatched most arcs and I'm glad one pace exists because without it I wouldn't even bother. Now I understand why many people stay away from one piece its horrendous pacing.

2025-07-24 19:05:50 +0000 UTCThroughout all of One Piece i did not notice the bad pacing at all (largely because i binged like crazy during quarantine so I had NOTHING to do anyway) except for 2 parts of the show. one of them is a future arc, and the other was around here, the oars stuff. its sooo slow, so i totally feel the slog you guys are going through. Especially on rewatch, since I know what good stuff is coming and im waiting so eagerly for it to pop up, everything else is super slow. also to answer/respond to what Carter was saying, yep I dont think a single one piece fan was like "Nooo sanji omg!" and I think cannon makes a great point that one piece has to nail its emotional beats because the stakes are never there. I WILL say though, I do think Oda eventually figured out that "Ah, my readers know the strawhats wont die, I should stop faking out them getting injured" and instead he centers his stakes around the impact that certain events will have on the world at a greater scale, rather than character health, which is when one piece REALLY starts to thrive, amplified a ton by its juicy living and breathing world. It just feels a lot more serious, you guys will see. Thats not to say there arent any more bad decisions when it comes to fake deaths and bad stakes though, there are still some egregious mistakes in the future. im sure some of you in the comments know what im talking about. just wanted to end off saying all your criticisms are valid af, and as a gigantic one piece fan myself, i totally agree with a lot of the things you guys say. that being said, you are on the cusp of getting to an insanely fan favorite stretch of episodes that answers a LOT of your problems, so keep pushing yall!! thank you for sticking with it!

There aren't too many OP fights that succeed without direct emotional impact. People do say they stakes thing and while I agree it's an issue it's never bothered me personally. Most anime have a group of character's that aren't in any real danger OP just feels worse because the crew is large and there's so many arcs
