I agree with Carter, Usopp needs a gun, when they were in Skypiea I was hoping he'll get those dial pistols, it would have made him much cooler. Also, the problem with One Pace is that they cut some context and you end up not understanding when or how some things happened, such as when Usopp and the rest got inside Kumashi.

You’re missing the point here. No one’s saying skip arcs or watch summaries that’s just a strawman. One Pace exists because Toei seriously damaged the pacing of the anime, especially after the timeskip. Whole episodes get stretched to cover less than a chapter, with long recaps, dragged-out reaction shots, and artificial slowdowns that kill the flow of the story. That’s not better context it’s padding. One Pace’s goal isn’t to rush through arcs, it’s to preserve the natural pacing of the manga. That’s literally what it says on their site when you first open the link — it’s a fan edit that trims the anime to match Oda’s original intent without all the unnecessary filler and slowdowns. You still get the emotional moments, the buildup, the comedy, and the fights, just without all the stalling that ruined the tension in so many scenes. And they’ve even started doing extended versions for arcs like Wano, Arlong Park and Egghead, keeping in good anime-only moments while still fixing the pacing. So calling it an “abomination” just ignores the whole reason One Pace was created in the first place. It’s not about rushing through One Piece arcs, it’s about watching it the way it was meant to be experienced.

If the goal is to get this arc over as fast as possible why not watch one pace at double the speed ? or even better watch a 10 min summary of thriller bark on youtube. And when we are at it, lets do the same with marineford, fishman Island or even better with every arc, so that we reach the current episodes even faster. Because it seems thats everything that matters, getting all this over as fast as possible no matter what. I get it og one piece has some drag moments but if i had the choice i would rather watch the og version with the drag but with better context, all its comedy and full fighting scenes than this awfull abomination that has only one thing going for it, the speed.

There are some fast cuts but the pacing is so bad through normal episodes. One Pace cuts out 541 minutes from TB which is way more than any other arc pre-timeskip. As a kid this was a brutal week to week with constant 5-10 minute recaps. That's probably why a lot of people are flipping opinions on arcs since we aren't stuck with like 15 minutes of show a week.

- Brook being so goofy and breaking out in random Skull Jokes definitely comes from how kind of insane he went from being alone for decades. Love him! - Aside from the original animated arc being genuinely funny to me, the reveal of Oars, The Continental Puller definitely pulled me right in to the arc since the whole Nami/boar/Absalon bit was longer in the original and sort of a drag. Still loved the arc though, and it’s my first time seeing it through One Pace. - I hate Moriah’s look but my brothers are so amused by him as a villain that I learned to just feel okay where he’s concerned.

Another one pace translation error in these last 2 batches of reactions: When the dog-penguin was speaking, the one pace subtitles had it as “I will not hurt a woman”, but what he actually said in Japanese was “I will never KICK a woman”. That’s why the Nami trio reacted so strongly to the dog-penguin zombie saying that line and it was meant to be a strong hint for us viewers about what is going on with the zombies.

Remember, one piece is an adventure series first and foremost,through the perspective of luffy’s journey. Having an arc always starting with mystery makes sense because we follow the crew’s perspective of travelling to various places where they have no idea what’s been going on there prior to their arrival. So in short we are getting a straw hat pov with the arc mysteries, which makes the viewing/reading experience more immersive and enjoyable imo.

Jack, you seriously need to catch up 🥲 The current arc is surprisingly action-packed from the very beginning and also well-paced which makes it so different from other OP arcs. I’ve got some personal beef with that arc, but I can’t deny it’s objectively fire. Not being caught up (at least with the anime) makes you miss so much during this rewatch. And honestly being current with the manga makes thriller bark ten times more entertaining😈

7:53 a mistranslation, Franky actually says “Oh, how un-assuring” seemingly directed to Robin, not “I’m really reliable actually”. Not a big thing to point out but oda is very intentional with his writing, including making sure characters’ dialogue remains consistent with their characterisation he has set up thus far, so I thought I’d point it out for those who care about that stuff.
